You're a ****ing idiot. That's one point I've made, succinctly, so as not to hurt your pointy little head, and so you don't have to "answer every sentence in my post" :thumbsup
Now, now, now Dan lets not go down that road again :yep Your right though. Im a big JC fan and I admit that firstly, Hopkins has fought a slightly better level of competition and whilst he has lost some of those fights, win for win he is at least the equal of Calzaghe. That being said I do think they are very close together and a Joe win over Hopkins here will for me, elevate JC above Hops. Same is true obviously for Hopkins. In regards to the trash talk, it doesn't suit Joe but I suppose it creates a little bit of buzz in relation to the fight. Hopkins is no angel himself obviously in this respect and of course he did bring up the looks thing by threatening to give JC a facelift! Perhaps he is envious(Joking)
Coward: A person who lacks courage; someone who brutally takes advantage of the weak. Not going after Roy Jones was lacking courage. Calzaghe-Pudwill was taking advantage of the weak. Tell me I'm wrong.
In case you'd forgotten, Joe Calzaghe is a boxer - and an exciting one at that. He could be the most boring talker in the world (I actually think he's a great talker) but that is fairly irrelevant really - it's how he fights that matters. How is he not a coward? I'll give you one good reason: HE FIGHTS FOR A LIVING Need more reasons? OK: - Calzaghe had never been 12 rounds when he took the World title fight with British legend Chris Eubank. Exhausted after 5 rounds, he nevertheless continued to press the action and win a hard fought decision. He had to be carried to his dressing room after the fight. - Calzaghe was decked in the 2nd round by hard punching Byron Mitchell, but rose off the canvas to stop Mitchell in the same round. - Calzaghe faced feared undefeated puncher Jeff Lacy (at the time touted by many as a 'mini Mike Tyson'). Lacy was coming off a total destruction of Robin Reid who'd given Calzaghe one of his hardest fights. Calzaghe WAS worried before the fight and almost pulled out with a hand injury. But he went ahead with the fight, took Lacy's best shots in round 1 and proceeded to batter him for 12 rounds. - At 35 years of age Calzaghe agreed to face undefeated 28 year old Mikkell Kessler in a super middleweight unification fight. Kessler had never been remotely close to defeat, had recently KO'ed respected champion Markus Beyer and won every round against tough Librado Andrade. I could go on and on. But if you still think Calzaghe is a coward it is a waste of my time
No all I meant was that Joe shouldn't be trying to undermine Bernard's legacy when we both now agree their resume's are similair. As for the **** talking Joe is not being true to himself thats whats annoying me here. He's 36 & still confused as to what persona he wishes to embody. I think this all stems from being under Warren's thumb for too long. One thing no one can dispute is the fact Hopkins is very much his own man.
I have already said, this is a boxing forum. Boxers are the only thing discussed here. Everything I've said about Calzaghe has been in boxing terms. As a boxer he is a coward. A coward is someone who lacks the courage to do something. Why didn't Calzaghe try to get fights with Jones or Ottke when they were his biggest threats and biggest rewards? As a boxer, tell me anyone who has been world champion for 10 years and achieved AS LITTLE as Calzaghe did. He beat basically no key fighters in 10 years of being champion. Yes, he got knocked down by Mitchell, yes, he fought Eubank (who had no significant wins in 3 years), and yes, he fought 2 other world champions (who were both young and had themselves beaten no great fighters) after 10 years of fighting meaningless defences. That doesn't prove courage in boxing terms, it proves the opposite.
Eubank was basically done? Is that why he gave Carl Thompson 2 wars at CRUISERWEIGHT after fighting Calzaghe? The same Carl Thompson who would stop David Haye 6 years later. The David Haye that recently became No 1 at Cruiserweight and is soon to make an assault on the Heavyweight division. If David Haye does have success in the heavyweight division.............Calzaghe's victory over Eubank is going to look even better. It already looks great. Eubank was only 31 with almost as many title fights under his belt as Calzaghe's total number of fights at the time. It was Calzaghe's first World title fight, first 12 round fight - he was relatively 'green', inexperienced and before his prime years. Yet, he beat Eubank convincingly despite making a significant tactical error - trying to KO Eubank after knocking him down in the first 15 seconds of the fight.
You have no right to call any boxer a coward. (with the possible exception of Bruce Seldon) Shame on you man!
What is an acceptable word for a boxer who doesn't fight his most dangerous opponents, and defends against average ones?
You're telling me that Eubank losing twice after Calzaghe beat him, proves Calzaghe is what exactly? That the guy he lost to went on to beat a 10 fight Haye? yes, 10 fights. And Calzaghe was brave to fight Eubank after 22? Come on... That just proves Haye has courage. Which is the truth!
