Calzaghe has allways had power but as he's getting old he cant afford to put so much pressure on his hands.

When he was young he had hand injuries and doctors told him that he would never box again. Thats why he had to change the way he throws each punch which is why he "slaps".

He knows he will retire within the next 2 years so its not worth him putting pull power in each punch because his hands could be damaged for the rest of his life.

Just imagine if he never had these hand problems...........

I cant find it, unfortunately. I can find the comments by Mitchel, but none by Eubank saying Calzaghes the hardest puncher he's ever faced. I remember him saying Calzaghes a very good boxer after the fight.

Eubank also stated Kessler was ordinary by the way...

"I watched the guy Mikkel Kessler when I was in Las Vegas in April, and he's ordinary."

Apart from being full of ****, you really think that you are some great sage when it comes to boxing. The truth is, no-one gives a damn about your anti non-US assessments.

Calzaghe was a lethal puncher in the earlier years, the only reason he has TKO's adversed to KO's is that he often beat the crap out of opponents early in the fight, it wasn't like he was scoring 7-8 round knock outs, he put the guy on ***** street within 3 rounds and the ref got them out of there.

People point to his TKO history and say "Oh, not legitimate" and then point to Manfredo.

With how timid Manfredo was in there, how much longer before Joe lowered a shot that really seriously hurt him? Manfredo wanted no business being in there with Joe and it was stopped and that was the ONLY stoppage that you could claim was rushed with Joe.

    lol.

It would only lead me to believe they hadn't actually seen the fights and assessed how jelly legged both Mitchell and Sheika was.

What, do they want a death in there before TKO?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J27JjNvYZ40

Look at the amount of shots Mitchell is taking. Look at how he starts stumbling about the ring and watch the very end where he loses all footing and rebounds off the ropes towards Calzaghe.

Had the ref not stepped in at that point, the guys hands were down, Calzaghe was pressing onto him and it would have been game over, perfectly timed stoppage in my view

    Unfortunately Sheika isn't on YouTube

One thing I'll note about Joe.

Every guy he has fought and beat, has struggled to come back.

Sheika, Mitchell, Reid, Lacy, etc - these are guys that were seen as some of the best up and comers in the division, they got beaten up by Calzaghe and never really made a splash again

the mitchell fight is the last time JC real stopping poer in his hands you could see that ever shot had everything behing it and they were hurting. if JC fights pavlik and he knows it is going to be his last he should go all out and put that power back in the shots 1 final time
