I don't think that Calzaghe was trying to knock Hopkins out and he had some respect for Hopkins and his reputation.

I'm sure that if Hopkins had that kinda style where he wanted to match wits with Calzaghe he wouldve found himself in some trouble.

You have to pick your poison with certain opponents ... I think if he made that mistake against Hopkins, instead of getting knocked down like he did with Mitchell ... he wouldve got knocked out.

I think Calzaghe has more dimensions that just power and speed ... he has the ability to overwhem his opponents and look for the "W" first and foremost.

Kessler is an over-rated fighter who Pavlik would freaking MURDER.

Joe murdered him, it wasn't punching output that did it, Kessler was punching as much as Calzaghe, he just couldn't handle the burn because he's B class at best.

Don't put words in my mouth, child.

As English obviously isn't your first language you usually do quite well but that statement makes little sense. There are no sore winners here, there are however happy winners who have mostly complemented Kessler after his defeat. And Yes throwing more punches does help win a fight, if you don't throw you CAN'T land, Joe beat Mikkel to the jab and outboxed him. You can pretend he didn't if that makes you feel better. The rest of us will continue to live in the real world without you. It's win, win for us all.

It is a professional fight. You are expected to FIGHT. Not pot shot and clinch. And all of the MMA haters point to the ground work as boring? At least most of them are trying to do something other than avoid a fight. Why do you think the guy in your avatar is so popular right now? He comes to fight. He isn't afraid to take a few to get in position to punish. Hopkins just looked like a guy that didn't want to be there. PERIOD. IMHO.

Right, so Pernell Whitakker was useless because he was avoiding all the shots the whole time, he should've just stood still and been hit, hrm?

Pavlik is not as popular as Calzaghe nor Hopkins, he's popular with his fan base but he's not selling the numbers of truely popular guys

Give him a year or two if he avoids Calzaghe and he might, that's more so because he's a hell of a nice guy AND who he has won against.

Not sure if you just don't understand my point or just don't want to. I'll just give it up.

A guy from Youngstown posted that Pavlik/Calzaghe will happen if Pavlik disposes of Lockett. He seems to know things from time to time that indicate he may be a little closer to the Pavlik camp than he lets on.

Guy from Youngstown underestimates the Jones Jr moneycheque attached to the Calzaghe fight.

And if you gave the fight 7-5 to Calzaghe, what the **** are you bitching about?

Dude, you aren't even keeping your replies straight. I never said this.

Also, Cal will sell out the ice rink if this is held in Wales regardless of who he fights, Pavlik or Jones. Cal can wait longer to fight Jones than he can to fight Pavlik. Most seem to think he takes Pavlik now. So logical order would be Pavlik and then Jones. Palle swears Kessler gets Jones next. We will see shortly though. But if it were Cal/Jones, this could have already been a done deal. With Pavlik they have to wait until after the Lockett fight.

Re 7-5 - That was directed at JanDK, I thought that much would be obvious being the closeness of his fight.

Calzaghe just sold out Planet Hollywood, something that Bernard hadn't done (sold a venue out) ever since his De La Hoya fight.

Calzaghe is one and done, it makes more sense for him to fight Jones Jr from a legacy viewpoint and a money viewpoint. Jones Jr is probably negotiating rough and tough and it's merely Calzaghe keeping options open and letting Jones Jr know he isn't the only fight he can have.

I think Calzaghe beats Pavlik myself, which is why I don't want Pavlik to take the fight - also I think Calzaghe would get more fame and legacy by beating Jones Jr, no matter how old Jones Jr is.

His one punch power is a complete myth and they keep bringing up the Mitchell fight in which he landed about 30 clean power shots that he sat on and he still did not stop Mitchell. Mitchell was plodding into Calzaghe head first with no defense and just gave him an easy big headed target. With a fighter with serious power.. you would not go head first charging when they are punching.

    A: You make no sense.
B: 10 years from now, if Calzaghe finishes his career with another victory, he'll be held in the Lennox Lewis light, perhaps even greater and Hopkins will be "just another guy" he beat.
C: Go to bed, it's obviously past the stage where you can make any common sense, you just started Calzaghe beat Hopkins by the same margin he beat Kessler, yet apparently "Hopkins won over Calzaghe".. you're a twink.
