i have heard alot of talk lately(mostly in the general forum) that jones is going to beat calzaghe?

i am a huge fan of calzaghe and i am extremely confident about this fight.

    my prediction is as follows

calzaghe will dominate most of the fight with his handspeed and his ability to throw alot of shot from angles, i think jones will cause calzaghe some trouble, he still has some good handspeed for his age and you can never count someone like jones out before the fight has even begun.

jones may well take a few of the early rounds i expect the fight will probably be close after 4 or 5 rounds maybe 3-2 either way?, but inevitably calzaghe will adjust to jones speed and run rings around him with a constant onslaught of speed and pressure he will force jones on to the ropes time after time but wont knock jones out as i feel calzaghe no longer has the power.

during the 10th/11th round the speed of the fight will start to take its toll on jones whilst calzaghe will still be relatively fresh, jones will again be forced on the ropes and a set of about 3 strong attacks from calzaghe will leave jones on the floor in the corner, calzaghes quick flurries prove to much, causing the ref to stop the fight

i have no doubt that jones would of beaten calzaghe in his prime, but now i dont feel he has enough left.

whats everyone elses views on the fight?

Good post there mate. I feel thats a pretty likely outcome however I just do feel RJJ could trouble Calzaghe and get the upset.

If Joe had a shakey chin this fight would be a toss up. He doesnt and it isnt.

Click on "Forum Home", then "Fantasy Boxing Betting". Vcash is pretend money for fun bets.

I use it as a way to determine the outcome of fights. For instance, putting a fat wedge of Vcash on Pavlik guaranteed Hopkins would win.

Aye, if china hand joe was china chin joe instead then we'd have a real contest. As it is he has good punch resistance and excellent recovery powers so I doubt RJJ will be able to stop him (although its not impossible) considering he hasn't KO'ed anyone in how long? The last one I remember clearly was Clinton Woods about 5-7 years ago now? I'm sure he's probably done someone in since then but you get my drift.

I know Calzaghe isn't exactly a demolition puncher anymore but if it goes the distance then surely it has to be Joe with a 116-112-ish UD

Calzaghe has shown a decent set of whiskers throughout his career, as long Jones doesn't connect with a left hook out of nowhere......

I think Joes hands are possible faster nowadays, and certainly for sustained period of time.

I keep hearing that BHop and RJJ would have definitely beaten Joe back in their 'primes'. I feel BHop certainly wouldn't have. Knowing exactly how much he turned down to fight Joe many years back, if it was a case of him definitely being able to beat him he would have snapped it up no probs. Jones always had the athletic one punch opener and the ability to follow it up in a hurry which Joe always respected. Roy had the ability to tee off on Joe as he would on almost anyone, but in those days Joe could really dig himself and would've landed too. Calzaghe has significanlty the better chin though, which I feel would've been decisive 'then' and will be decisive now after Jones hits home a few shakers.

from what i remember i think this was more of clinton being outclassed rather than ko'ed, correct me if im wrong

i think the abuse calzaghe gets on the general forum is ridiculous, andi hope he batters rjj but he wont get one bit of recognition on the general forum of this place

Roy jones was finished a long time ago, Joe will win without any trouble, but it's a **** end to his career.

i agree that BHOP would not have beaten joe in his prime, i have always maintained that joe would have had more success against a prime BHOP then he did against the current BHOP.

but a prime jones is a different prospect altogether

I think it will an entertaining first few rounds, but then the fight will turn into Jones-Tarver III, with Jones keen to keep out of harms way down the stretch, and Calzaghe content to let him, basically because Joe will be picking up the rounds en route to a pretty conclusive points victory.
