If you want to go for Rocky you would be far better off shouting about the guys he beat on the WAY to the title, rather than the ones he beat to gain and defend it. At those stages of their careers they were **** poor.

I'd go with that. Tell me, do think there is a good chance that Holyfield would do the same to him? Bigger stronger, meets fire with fire, loves a fight, no thought for niceties.

Heavyweight get more attention. But Calzaghe is the greatest SMW ever. And I would favor him over almost even body below Heavyweight.

    He was that good.

    Holyfield and Calzaghe at Cruiserweight.:|:think

The only question would be, "Is Holyfield clean"?

where to start with all this...

i know. don't put Marciano's name in the same sentence as Joe Calzaghe.

    there, i said it.

Marciano fought a load of stiffs and lighter fighters who didn't have the substance at the higher weights.

Charles? which natural Heavies did he beat to make him a worthy win at Heavy?
Walcott? which natural Heavies did he beat to make him a worthy win at Heavy?
Moore? the same goes for him.

Marciano had to go through hell to beat these guys before a came through in the end. the other fighters aren't even worth mentioning. his resume is hideous. it doesn't even come close to being in Joe's league.

and will people stop saying that Joe beat a past his best Hopkins like Joe was in his prime. he wasn't. he was more past his best than Bernard was. his hands that had been bad since his Amateur days were really messed up by the time he fought Bernard and Jones. his all around physical capabilities were clearly no where to being as they were at his best.

Marciano when at his best called it quits when there were more interesting fights on the horizon. Calzaghe stayed the whole hog regardless of his condition and fought the best fighters while being past his best. this in itself shows you the quality of the man as a fighter.

    Marciano?? Meh...

RJJ in his prime would have made Joe look foolish, IMHO.
