Calzaghe's BS Comments

    "At the end of the day, I wanted to fight Roy Jones six years ago," said Calzaghe. "He admitted to me he didn't want to fight me, but now he's happy I'm fighting him. I don't need Roy Jones now, I didn't need Roy Jones then. He's got more to gain than me. If he wins he shocks the world, I'm expected to win."

    Calzaghe didn't limit his comments to Roy Jones either. He brought up Kelly Pavlik's name and says that Pavlik, so far, is basically a one-hit wonder and essentially hasn't beaten anyone of real consequence. Calzaghe thinks that Pavlik needs to prove more before he's eligible for a fight with him.

    "At the end of the day I've beaten all of the opponents," said Calzaghe who sports an undefeated record of 45-0 (32KOs). "Now people are talking about Kelly Pavlik - after one win. This is like deja vu of Jeff Lacy, another guy with one decent win."

    Calzaghe expressed a great deal of disdain for Pavlik and dismissed the recent success of 'The Ghost' from Youngstown, Ohio. Calzaghe claims that Pavlik has turned down a fight against him on more than one occasion.

    "We actually tried to get the fight with Pavlik," said 'The Pride of Wales' who is training in his Newbridge gym for what might be his last fight. "Three years ago after the Jeff Lacy fight he was our first opponent, but he didn't want to fight. He went for the middleweight title and after he won the middleweight title we tried to fight him again and he didn't want it." :huh

    "It's funny when people come and knock on your door when they know you're going to fight somebody else," said the Welshman. "I think maybe it's just a case of people wanting to make publicity off my back."

    "There's a difference between Pavlik and Roy Jones," he said.

    "I'm fighting a legend in Roy Jones and Pavlik I'd just be fighting a promising champion. There's a big difference there."
    When asked what he thought would happen if he ever did fight Pavlik, Calzaghe fired more verbal jabs.
    "To be honest, I think I'd have an easier job with Kelly Pavlik than Roy Jones. I'll tell you the reason being is that I love fighters who come to me. Pavlik is a bit one dimensional, he can punch hard. You have to remember against Jermain Taylor in the first fight he was knocked out. :huh

    However, if Calzaghe holds true to his word, the world may never see he and Pavlik in the ring together.

    Calzaghe told reporters a few weeks ago that the fight with Jones may very well be his last. Whatever the case, he claims he's relishing what could be his final training camp after 15 years as a professional.

    "The way I prepare now is that I'm enjoying it," he said. "Because I know it's going to be over soon and I'll be retired for a long time."

    What a piece of ****. I swear, if someone ever pants' the guy, we would all see a a big hairy vagina between his legs. The guy keeps talking out of both sides of his mouth. In his stupid book, he says a fight with Roy Jones would be meaningless, now it is the most important fight of his career. He was calling out Pavlik left and right after Pavlik KO'd Taylor, now says Pavlik isn't worthy to fight him. This is after recent comments that he offered Pavlik a fight after he beat Lacy in 2006 when Pavlik hadn't even fought Bronco McKart yet, let alone Miranda and then Taylor twice. I am so sick of this guys bull****, I hardly wait till he retires. He is the ultimate blowhard, so full of himself, but too stupid to keep track of his own lies.

    Off topic,but;
    'At the end of the day' is an annoying over used modern cliche.Joe says it a lot.

    'It is what it is' is irritating too.

    Why do people need these verbal props?

    Calzaghe should be thanking RJJ that he is still around, because although Calzaghe says he doesn't need Jones, if RJJ wasn't around he would almost be forced to fight Pavlik. You can bet that he would still avoid Pavlik like the plague and would probably start calling out Clinton Woods or maybe could coax Eubank out of retirement since Eubank is only about Hopkin's age. His fans would then claim either of these fighters are in their prime and that they are much bigger challenges for Calzaghe then fighting Pavlik.

    These comments epitomize every thing I hate about Slappy Joe. He's just an arrogant piece of **** and I'll die a happy man if Jones shuts his ***** ass up.

    Slappy Joe says Pavlik has more to prove before he is worthy, but somehow he was worthy of a fight 3 years ago when his best win was Zuniga???? Since then Kelly has beat McKart, Zertuche, Miranda, and Taylor, but that makes him less worthy???

    Slappy Joe called Pavlik out immediately after Pavlik/Taylor I, and then, before any other fights were made, and before Taylor said he would definitely exercise his rematch clause, Joe made a fight with BHop. Now Slappy says it was Pavlik who didn't want the fight???

    In the build up to the BHop fight Joe said he wanted to fight Pavlik next. That is on film. Pavlik said he wanted Joe "before he gets one day older." That is also on film. After Joe squeaked past BHop he proclaimed himself a legend killer, and called out RJJ who is more shot than John Kennedy.

    After Pavlik/Lockett Arum wanted the Calzaghe fight, Pavlik wanted it, Warren wanted Joe to fight Pavlik, Jack Leow wanted the fight, Cameron Dunkin wanted the fight, and HBO wanted the fight. This is all well documented. Slappy fired Warren, and made a fight with Jones. Now Joe and Enzo Calzaghe conintue to puke an endless stream of absolute bull**** out of their mouths.

    The inevitable loss to Pavlik would be a much more honorable way to leave the sport than a win over Roy who has nothing left.
