Wouldn't read too much into what either Pavlik or Calzaghe say in terms of not respecting each other. Why is exactly is Pavlik fighting Hopkins directly after Calzaghe has fought the same fighter? He says that "Calzaghe would have to be shot to stop running" in the press conference for the Hopkins fight and then Calzaghe comes back with this. This after both stated their repsect for each other before the long term hype began. Just goes to show that as long as they both win then Calzaghe definitely won't be retiring and they'll be meeting next year while people keep putting Calzaghe and Pavlik in the same sentence after such statements along the way - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
What you really hate is the 0 that follows the 45- on his record & possibly him being British aswell. Enjoy dying sad CLOSE THREAD IMMEDIATELY.
AT THE END OF THE DAY, JOE CALZAGHE SAYS IN HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY WRITTEN IN 2007 THAT HE DOES NOT RATE TARVER OR JOHNSON BECAUSE ALL THEY DID WAS K.O A SHOT ROY JONES. FOUR YEARS AFTER ROY JONES WAS SPARKED BY TARVER, CALZAGHE CHOOSES TO FIGHT HIM RATHER THAN THE YOUNG, HUNGRY, UNDEFEATED, TOP 10 POUND-FOR-POUND KELLY PAVLIK. EVEN TO THE MOST BIASED AND BLINKERED CALZAGHE FANS, SURELY THAT SAYS SOMETHING. And if anyone doubts that Joe did say this in his autobiography "No Ordinary Joe", I will find the page number and post the actual quote.
"I'm not chasing after Roy Jones. Be honest, Roy Jones is a good fighter and I don't want tough fights, I just want big money." Joe Calzaghe - The Daily Mirror - June 1 - 1999 - p300 "No Ordinary Joe: The Autobiography of Joe Calzaghe" by Joe Calzaghe and Brian Doogan in 2007 - "I have no interest any more in Roy Jones and no interest in Antonio Tarver. Jones is washed up and Tarver was never that good anyway, he just caught Jones when Jones was shot and Johnson did the same." Antonio Tarver TKO2 Roy Jones Jr, 15/05/2004 Glen Johnson KO9 Roy Jones Jr, 25/09/2004 Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones Jr, 18/11/2008 Calzaghe fans - are you seriously going to defend him over this?
No, not the paragraph above. If this is true then I am severely disappointed in Calzaghe for saying such things. I like him because I like his style & I think he`s a warrior in the ring but this isnt the way to speak if your a fighter IMO. Suprising to me to read this I must say. :thumbsup
I'm not saying he didn't have an injury but to say he would beat him at any time?:admin :admin massive nuthugging
