Your key logical flaw is this: In reality - outside of American fanatics and biased US journalists - Joe actually won the fight by a very wide UD.

thats too easy to throw off people's opiniuons like that.

check out the BBC live text that night and their rep all but said that joe lost that fight.

don't throw in generalisations that have no weight simply because you want it to be true.

    Not anymore.

    Agree

He would have fought Bhop, of that I have no doubt whatsoever. 99% of this post you put forward a reasoned argument, then you spill change his colours, as ive said before he has never ducked anybody,he maybe didnt chase Bhop and RJJ as hard as you and I would have liked but he has never avoided anybody, binned titles to avoid or changed divisions(sometimes skipping a division) to avoid any fighter. if those are his colours i hope he doesnt change them coz there are fighters who are held in higher esteem than him who are guilty of all of those things.

Think he's talking about the hype Pavlik is getting way too early not just the fight with Hopkins, even if he beats Hopkins the hype will only get bigger . He has had three major victories so far and is being put high on P4P ranks with insane amount of hype surrounding him too early you must admit.

    thats a conundrum.

if you are a legitimate fighter who has earned his stripes on the world stage saying you "ducked" someone can be put under the microscope.

if you choose to fight out of your home continent, and that isn't the hotbed for the sport, then you have to take it with a dose of salts.

if i am a legitimate champ at my weight fighting out of malta and all the guys who need the rep come to fight me and i crow about it because they use to be someone, does that give me the right to say that the big boys, the ones who have taken on all comers to get their reputation and command the big dollars and have the most notoriety, are avoiding me?

or do i have to decide if i want to find out how good i am - like they had to in order to hold all the marbles - or if i want to say how good i am but not do anything about it to make myself a genuine threat to their ego and bring the honey to make it happen?

you can't talk about a fighter being avoided who was never in a position to be on equal footing with the fighters he should have been fighting to begin with.

If you're talking about moving Division sooner than he did then i am with you.
But if youre talking about fighting bigger names at SMW in America then im gonna need those names, He would have fought Bhop, the RJJ one ,as you said in a previous post was too much risk/reward and was never going to happen. he fought everybody else but Ottke(and who the **** would fight him in germany after the reid debacle).

I think all Joe is saying is that Pavlik is a new kid on the block. Until last year he was a nobody except to the hardcore fans. He's still untested in my eyes and i think Calzaghe is merely emphasizing this point

Yeah but Calzaghe talked all this crap about how Pavlik was ducking him and he was a coward and then when Pavlik demolished Gary Lockett Joe started saying he was too young and untested.

no i meant jones and hopkins.

but the "never going to happen" part was purely up to JC.

forget ottke. no-one in his right right mind should give that man a mention - although i sometimes think frank warren beats off to him at night.....

It seems like Joe believes Kelly will win, but hopes not

I liked Joe C so much more before he became full of ****. He's basically the Welsh version of DLH in terms of the nonsensical bull**** he spews to his public, knowing they will buy anything he claims.

For christ's sake get over it. Hopkins had a round or two the rest belonged to Joe. So what if pavlik knocks him out (unlikely as it is) it doesn't mean a thing as you lot always point out, styles make fights.
