I remember the David Starie fight being particularly shite (made Froch-Dirrell look like Castillo-Corrales I). Also, the fights with Miguel Angel Jimenez, Evans Ashira and Kabary Salem were pretty bad spectacles.
Will Calzaghe acolytes please stop using this type of phrase...what does "worthy" actually mean?...fighting Calzaghe isn't like meeting the Pope for ****s sake. Continuing your theme, what exactly had Brewer (recent loss), Mitchell (coming off a loss), Salem (coming off a draw and a loss), Ashira (recent loss) done to make them worthy of a shot at Saint Joe? I would be interested in your logic
Doesn't mean anything - Joe was also past his best when he beat RJJ. People seem to forget that when JC fought RJJ and Bernard Hopkins he was also not as prime as he once was. Seems everyone can be past their best, yet not JC. JC used to hit hard as hell early in his career, but as the hand got brittle he then got a reputation as a slapper and couldnt punch. Funny how he ended up as 46-0 with 32 stoppages if he couldn't punch.
Never rated the RJJ win anyway, I thought RJJ was all smoke & mirrors going into the Calzaghe fight. And nothing then or since has changed my mind one bit on that...more like given me confirmation. Thank God they didn't get to inflict RJJ-Hopkins II on us. Y'all must've forgot? Yeah, forgot just how bloody awful the first fight was.
