Do you think that Joe's hand could become a problem in this fight? I noticed that in the last fight against Manfredo, at the end he seems very weary of throwing the left hand, he uses it as a way to lever the next right hand rather than as a punch, and any punch he did throw with it was more of a tap. At one point I think I saw him grimace after he threw it. So if it breaks again, how's he gonna fare against Kessler? I know he's done it before against Ashira I think it was, but Kessler is a different matter. Also, anyone know if, with the kind of break that his hands are prone to, is it possible to continue to throw punches with the broken hand, or would he have to fight one handed?
I think if he broke his hand he'd keep throwing it..........even at the cost of the rest of his career . He knows how much this fight means and without winning it there won't be anymore Superfights anyway . I think Joe's plan to retire in 12 months might have a lot to do with the condition of his hands , they really have deteriorated in the last few years and the 12 month timeline is what 2/3 fights . Most likely that's how long he reckons they'll last . He seems to hurt his hand in most of the fights he has now , at the very least picks up a hefty amount of bruising .
Yeah it's a bit of a shame really about his hand. I'm sure that if he could throw it he would, but against Ashira after he damaged it he boxed one handed, against Manfredo he really didn't want to even touch him with it, so I'm not sure he could throw it. Against Manfredo he didn't even land a punch hard enough to break his hand it seemed. He didn't damage his hand against Lacy or Bika though, so maybe it will hold up. If he doesn't throw it I'm not sure he can outbox Kessler one handed. It's going to be a very intense fight I think!
Joe says he needs his left hand because he has good power in it. He says even if it breaks he needs to keep throwing. That is what he has to do to win. Joe sounds like he hates losing and will leave it all in the ring.
