It depends if he sticks to his word of one more fight and then retirement. If a fight with Pavlik could be made I'd like to see that the most. Failing that Clinton Woods (assuming he gets by Tarver) in Cardiff, which I think would be a tough fight for him. I'd hate for him to take on a shot Roy Jones, much better to go out fighting someone at their peak like Pavlik or Woods.

I hope he fights Woods........Calzaghe is laughed at by a lot of non-British fans so why fight in a country where youre never gonna win them over?? he's idolised in his home country so set up a LHW unification between him and Woods!!!

Pavlik wouldnt do much for his legacy...he's only defended the titles once so far, let Pavlik dominate the MW division for a bit!!

Calzaghe vs. Pavlik is the fan's fight.
Calzaghe vs. RJJ is the historian's fight.

If you are a Calzaghe fan, could you ask anything more than a fight vs. the legendary supertalent, RJJ? Probably not.

If you are just a fight fan and looking for pure excitement, your choice should be no other boxer than Pavlik.

If you are looking for something special, maybe Bad Chad is your man for Joe's farewell...

No Clinton Woods UK LHW Unification??? I'd be disappointed if that never happens, but it probably wont cos it's common knowledge that Calzaghe wants Pavlik

That would sell out in Cardiff and I think Calzaghe would rather sign off over here than in the states. I think he'd have a lot of trouble with Woods but probably outpoint him in the end.

I'm sorry, but unless you are one of Woods' mate (ore Clinton himself), maybe from his hometown, you have to agree that fighting Woods would mean NOTHING for his legacy, NOTHING for the worldwide public and NOTHING for HBO who's gonna put down a few MILs for Joe's farewell fight. Calzaghe-Woods at another point of both guys career would've meant more... why not? Good fight for the UK, I agree. But for Joe's farewell fight, 99,9% wants either a legend (Jones) or a top P4P-er (Pavlik). And an American opponent is guaranteed since HBO is putting down the money...

Agree. Wood's stock has never been higher and will rise even more if he gets past Tarver, and it's an all British Clash guaranteed a massive crowd. It might not go down to well with the American audience but if Calzaghe impresses beating Hopkins I don't think he will be too bothered about that.

But why not Jones? It's a bit foolish question from me (us) since HBO will have the final word and HBO will do whatever it takes to make that fight. Why? Because the Jones-Tito did more than 500k in PPV, which is stunningly good for an old-men's show, and Calzaghe is ready to make a name in the US in a few days. So if everything goes as Warren has planned (Joe wins, excites US public), HBO will make a crazy offer for the Jones fight.

You have to understand that Jones vs. Calzaghe would make at least 500k ($25M) in the US just because it's PPV and HBO wouldn't even accept Calzaghe-Woods as PPV - not even as a Boxing After Dark show. In the meantime, the UK PPV for a Jones fight would succeed the Hatton-Mayweather numbers since Jones is still one of the biggest names in boxing and British fans are more excited than ever. UK PPV would do stunning numbers, as it was the case in December. The Hattons earned crazy money and believe me that is what Warren and the Calzaghes want.

Woods was out of question when HBO knocked the door at Warrens office more than a year ago.

Kessler is a coward, unproven and overrated.
