Kessler was a Excellent Win. Kessler was a Excellent Fighter at that Time.

He was a Underdog against Lacy and won every round. Say what you want against Lacy but anytime you dominate in a fight you are underdog its very impressive.

Hopkins is a ATG. Joe moved up in his First Fight at 175 and the beat the lineal 175 champ who is a atg. Great Win.

Eubank , Reid , Woodhall , Brewer , Mitchell , Bika are all very good wins.

People talk like his resume is garbage. Its obviously not.

i think his two best wins were kessler and hopkins. The problem is he never really had a wow factor megafight win to his name. Hopkins was the closest but even still i think another 2 or 3 wins against top world class operators would have left his resume very polished.

As it stands i feel hes one of the best british fighters this era and a world class champion. But he could have been so much more...

When you take into consideration that he has over twenty title defenses, that he had a percentage of over 50% of title fights per fight and that the win/loss ratio of his opponents is sky rocket high, you've got a good resume.

He beat 12 current/former/future world champions during his career, unified the entire division and then took on the best at 175 and beat him.

Anyone discrediting that resume is really just saying "I wish Joe had lost to a bum so I could feel better about myself" - Joe in reality is one of the very best fighters in the modern era and has proven that.

Had he beat Hopkins in 2001? Sure, that'd be a great win and probably catapulted him, but why did Hopkins turn down an offer of $3 million and home ground advantage in 2001? Why did Jones Jr go on record stating that Calzaghe was too risky for him to fight back in the day because the money would have had to be near career best for him to take that on?

He'd kick the ass of any fighter in his era from 160-175 with the exception of RJJ and that isn't a slight on Calzaghe. RJJ would beat any fighter from 154-190 in my view.

Let the guy retire in peace. The more Caltards try to convince people about his greatness the more people explore his swiss cheese resume that is as bad as slapstick fighting style. I never disliked him when he was fighting but I am really starting to strongly dislike him manly because of all his yahoos that fill up these boards.

Oh, and another thing if I do not bow down to the greatness of Joe Calzaghe I am a Racist! I have more white people bring up racism on this board than anyone else.

    Ummmm No...

Kessler is a good win, but imo not his best win.....Kessler is a solid good champion, nothing more/nothing less...

Hopkins is his best win, and even that one, was a SD against a 43 year old past his best Bernard....

Jones was already shot, as Joe said in his own book...

Eubank was past his best as well....

    Who was Jeff Lacy again?

Then Calzaghe has a collection of fighting bums, and cab drivers....Hell, he was fighting at some skating rink in wales in the mid to late 90's...and he was a world champion?...

The guy is good, but his resume is not of a ATG....he doesnt even crack the top 100....

If you've defeated Mundine, you automatically have a great resume no matter who else you've fought and if you've knocked him out?....You're a devastating puncher whether you choose to use it or not.

Joe is great fighter. Period. If he wanted to win the hearts and respect of American fight fans he would have crossed the pond long before his second to last fight. But I don't think he cared. His country men adore him and argue on his behalf about his status as an ATG. Personally I think he limited himself by only fighting at home but it seems to have worked pretty well for him.

But answer your question. His resume is weak for someone considered an ATG.
