It´s decent but nothong special. Not one you expect from an atg. If the smw division would have any depth history-wise he wouldn´t be called an atg.

And no, Hopkins was never the linear champ at lhw.

When Eubank comes up in a Collins discussion, he was shot to hell.

And yet when he comes up in Calzaghe discussions, he's one of his top 5 wins and a good version of him.

    Which is it?

Remember that Collins first fought Eubank 2 and a half years before Calzaghe.

Jones was not a top LHW contender when Joe fought him, he was shot, Joe knew it too...

    He beat Badi Ajamu, who?

Struggled for most of the fight against Anthony Hanshaw who was a SMW

Trinidad was shot to pieces, way smaller than Roy, and still won the first 3 rounds.

How that earned him a shot at the LHW title is beyond me, especially since there were way more legitimate threats at or around that weight.

I understand Joe wanted to cash out against a ring legend, that is fine.

But lets call it for what it is and stop trying to justify it as a credible win.

Calzaghe was 38, in potentially his last fight, looking for a big name opponent to go to pasture with.

Funny how Mosley is considered absolutely shot at the age he's at, yet Calzaghe is considered prime, when he was obviously declining at a rapid rate.

    Calzaghe was 36, not 38.

And he may not have been peak, but he was not too far out of his prime. He was a spring chicken compared to how shot Roy was. I have even heard posters call him shot, which is ridiculous.

And I don't think Mosley is shot, the word shot gets tossed around too much.

Underrated by some. Overrated by others.
Me? I tend to rate it right on the money.
(just kidding Bailey, that was for you.)

On bunces boxing show he said on a poll 60 percent felt Jones would win. Ibelieve Haye, Hopkins and Froch also picked Jones and Boxing Monthly felt Calzaghe would win a an unpopular decision
Why are you asking me? Ive never claimed Eubank to be shot.
And the Eubank that last fought Collins to a SD, the only man to beat Eubank at the time when Calzaghe fought him was around 2 years. A SD loss to a defending champ dosent equate to someone being shot, nor does a couple of KO wins after

Not to mention Eubank was made favourite

How you going to say Tarver was weight drained when his natural weight was LHW, and he won a IBF title at LHW 2 years after losing to Hopkins?. Toney was 26 years of age, a fighter usually is on the decline after 30 and Eubank was on his decline

In the SMW division at that time even some the guys who had world titles were not world class, are you going to say Catley and Hilton Jr were world class fighters?

Just because Malinga beat Reid dont mean Malinga is a great fighter. Or just coz Woodhall beat Malinga dont make Woodhall great either. Or Just coz Calzaghe beat woodhall who beat malinga dont mean Calzaghe has beaten Malinga.

Starie should be quoted if Calzaghe is trying to earn respect in his own house, not if he wants to earn respect on the global stage.

Omar Sheika aint been in the ring top 10 SMW, for an American fighter who seems to have had a few title shots thats shows he was nothing but a gatekeeper.

When Mario Veit was undefeated who was his best win? He wasnt in the ring top 10 SMW he was a German hypejob. The next Ottke in the making but didnt even make it to Ottke level, why you making Mario Veit look like he is a great fighter he was decent level.

I didnt see Andre Ward use Calzaghe’s blueprint in his fight against Kessler. I saw Andre Ward beat Kessler better than Calzaghe beat Kessler. Both Calzaghe and Ward fought in the hometowns so they both had advantage, but Ward beat Kessler more convincingly even tho both beat Kessler easily.
I scored it 6-6, and Hopkins wins coz Calzaghe got knockdown, but I dont call it a robbery, but the fight could have been scored either way it was a hard to score fight. There were some judges giving round 3, 5, 6 to Calzaghe rounds which Calzaghe ate lead right hands. Like Max Kellerman said during the fight everytime sweat flew of the face it was off Calzaghes coz it was Hopkins cleaner punches.

Jones was ring top 10 just ahead of Clinton Woods and behind Tarver and Glen. Being in the top 10 of your division could mean that the division is weak. Hopkins was in the P4P top 10 2009 - 2010 and everyone knows he didnt belong there. Marco Antonio Rubio was in the top 10 MW and Pavlik beat him, does that make Pavlik world class. And RJJ was pure shot it was a money fight for both men and it dont mean ****, just like Hopkins beating RJJ dont mean ****.

Was Hopkins weight drained when he fought at MW for 15 years, or was he blown up when he made his debut?
If you say his natural weight was LHW then you have to say he fought weight drained for 15 years.
