Very much so. That win is ludicrously overated by Jones fan boys and your average fan alike. It might even be worse given where Bernard's strength lie and that those are strengths that are proven to be solidified only by experience.

Compare their opponents. Hopkins fought the better fighters on top and on average and he was in some wars against Mercado, Echols and Allen.

You'll never see me argue Calzaghe fought good fighters either.Level of opposition was a big drawback for both men for years.I think Hopkins showed less *****s in his armour against the lowly talents though.e was far more consistent than Joe.

Eastman was a terrible fighter imo.Guys like him and Hakkar were a reflection on how poor the euro middle scene was at the time.

Personally, I think it´s a style thing both beat Kessler. Both had fast hands, a high workrate and where able to break Kessler´s rythm. I really think style has a lot to do with it and I expect Kessler to look great against Froch.

So why didnt Calzhage fight any of these guys? Why didnt Warren put him in with this level of fighter? They were all middleweight and super middleweight contenders? I remember Echols calling out Calzahge on several occasions. The only fighter he put him in with was an old Charles Brewer, and Calzahge struggled a bit. As bad as you want to make Hopkins comp out to be, doesnt really matter, it still makes Joes look worse. To me his toughest fight was taking on and up and coming Omar Sheika, who was holding his own until he got cut.
What are we argueing here? Im not saying Hopkins was the greatest fighter of all time, but he certainly fought a higher level of fighter during his title reign.

I´m with you but did you ever see the Ottke fight? That was in no ****in´ way a robbery. Ottke won clearly 8-4 or even 9-3. How anybody could even have this close is beyond me.

Yeah, there's this thing about the Ottke fight being a robbery, but I never saw it that way.

I think Keith Holmes is maybe his most underrated win over a tricky 6'2 southpaw WBC titlist with a decent reign. Vanderpool was a tricky southpaw too

Echols was a serious banger who went on to destroy ex-titlist Brewer in 3rounds who some thought beat Otke. Mercado was a big puncher and Eastman are pretty decent 1.

    Brown/Jackson were experienced ex-titlists

TEll me why Hopkins wasnt prime at 28 against Jones? Inexperienced maybe, but he was prime.

Well I think your wrong. Jones had more amatuer experience but both were somewhat green as professional fighters and Hopkins had more of them at the time. Both fighters improved tremendously over their pro careers, its not like Jones stayed the same and only Hopkins got 100 times better.

Ottke get´s far too much ****. Yeah he had a few close ones (two acutally, Brewer I and Larsen) and since he was always the hometown fighter and except for one occasion the champ he got the benefit of the doubt. The reid fight was a disgrace and one of the worst things I ever saw but all those other close fights aren´t close when you watch. Most people are just going by hearsaying. I wait for the day when somebody says Mundine got robbed
