Well I think that what a fighter does in his career absolutely defines his value as a scalp. To be honest with you, I find the idea that there is a contrary argument baffling.

    Indeed,

It's sort of like saying that just because Gerry Cooney never amounted to anything AFTER Holmes had beaten him, automatically deams the win as meaningless.

My grandfather, who introduced me to boxing, and great grandfather were from that general area of Wales mate, though my grandad was English.

    I just like the memorial.......

The Matchstick man was extremely well thought of and respected.

As he did in his tune up, Kessler looked gun shy and un-opportunistic. I do think Ward’s awkwardness and clinching can be credited with his horrible performance last weekend but I suspect it was not the only factor. At this stage, I can see a supposed better match up in the hungry Froch walking away with the upset. We’ll see but I do no not like what I’ve been seeing from Kessler as of late regardless who he’s been facing, nobodies or Ward..I don't see the same poise leading up to the Calzaghe fight.

Actually, you yourself use the contrary argument in regards to Hopkins win over Johnson, and Jones' win over Hopkins, for example.

Kessler was not exposed, inactive, disinterested, distracted or injured. What happened was that he got beat. Pure win by Ward imo, all the more for the impressive way he fought. I knew he had fast hands and athletic ability, but he showed me ring generalship, pacing, discipline and defensive awareness.

    Great performance.

    (and I'm wrong again )

To be honest, the fight really didn't impress me. Ward looked kind of messy and evn amateurish, considering the dominant nature of the win. Wasn't as slick or as snappy as I would have imagined. An American Olympian winning a world title with a one-sided upset : I expect a slicker, more polished performance.
    Kessler just looked dreadful.
Maybe both suffered from a bad "style-mesh". But we might see too many of them in the tournament, I fear.

The Super Six, for me anyway, has gotten less appealing with each fighter. Abraham-Taylor was really quite good, Froch-Dirrell was bad but I at least an improvement from both in their next fights. This Kessler-Ward was one-sided, I think if that's the best of Ward (which it could well be)then I doubt I'll ever like his style, and I just hope Kessler isn't a shot fighter now.

Ward has indirectly done us something of a disservice.

If Kessler had got past him then the upcoming Kessler Froch fight would have been a WBA, WBC unification bout with the Ring Magazine title goinbt to the winner.

Personaly I have not been disapointed by the tournament because it has brought a few surprizes and has already turned the division upsiide down. The next few fights should shake it up further.

Although Kessler and Taylor are on the slide at the moment a win in their next fights could catapult them up the rankings againn.

There should be a Ring/Undisputed Champ by the end of the tournament anyway unless 1 of the main men pull out, which I wouldn't rule out

Funny how when Monte Barrett was KO'd by Solis and Enzo was KO'd in the the fight after Haye but no one questioned his resume

No ones building Haye into an ATG off beating Enzo and Barrett

Well I dont think that could be possible to think Haye was an ATG but there was a lot of people calling him great after beating Monte Barrett
