Actually, I think Taylor has a excellent chance against Ward, he should not be the favourite but this fight is close to 50/50.

That's it. Kessler hat two weaknesses. He is unable to adept and he is one-dimensional - his must not be one actually. Calzaghe and Ward had the right style to exploit these. That does not mean Kessler is ****, exposed or BS like that.

No chance, not only is Taylor shot mentally and physically his skills are inferior

Ward may turn out to be a superstar. I dont think Kessler was out of the fight in fact he was landing some nice body shots. The headbutts were accidental but the ref did a bad job. He was corrected Kessler for holding but not the crafty Ward. I was impressed with Ward and Kessler's corner was no help to him. Calzage beat a guy that was never beaten and Joe hurt Kessler with body shots, he also upset an undefeated Champ in Lacy. I think he hurt them mentally

Which fight did you think he lost...BHOP....I dont see it that way..Hopkins tried every trick to bide for time with the fake foul tricks and looking for rest. I feel the same about Joshua Clottley vs Cotto...Clottley blew the fight with cheap complaints instead of fighting. Bhop did the same vs Joe

Hopkins won the fight on defense, Calzaghe just couldnt land his punches, BHOPs landed clean. Round on round Calzaghe would miss and get countered and have his neck snapped back.

I had Clottey beating Cotto too

    The following are vital:

Accurate Punching - Hopkins/Clottey all night long
effective Aggression - Cotto/Calzaghe were aggressive but completely ineffective
Defense: Hopkins/Clottey's defense was the difference

Does anyone think Kessler's inactivity and poor opp of recent years has diminished him ?.Every time i've seen him he just has a going through the motions look to him.I've never been an advocate of him as anything other than a good solid fighter, though i'm surprised Ward was able to pull this off, as he's not been impressive either imo.I did expect his mobility to give Kessler a tough time, but saw the experience and jab being a bit too much.

    I haven't wached the fight yet.Just wondering.

Kessler at times had a decent right hand in the Calzaghe fight and looked more active and sharper overall, putting his punches together better. Against Ward he was just loading up with the left and plodding behind a jab.

Promoter troubles and inactivity could have been a factor, Ward being such an effective southpaw spoiler probably didn't help Kessler much either. I thought he would clinch Kessler to death and lose a decision as I predicted in another thread, I was wrong..at least about the outcome. Still early in the tournament though, Kessler can do better or worse. Same can be said for Ward. Taylor actually matches up with him better, should be interesting if JT has anything left. Calzaghe's win should be evaluated by the fighter he beat at the time. If Kessler improved and became the heir apparent would that mean Joe beat a better fighter, nonsense.

No it dosent effect J.C.'S legacy at all, any more than Roberto Duran's legacy was affected by how Terry Norris was able to dominate and deck Sugar Ray Leonard, or how Hector Camacho was able to STOP Leonard.

This is because Ward had better footwork, head movement and use of angles than Calzaghe, his first punch was also better. That means Kessler couldnt get set in the same way he could against Calzaghe

It seems aittle ironic that Calzaghe's wins over Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones have apreciated in value while his wins over Mikel Kessler and Jeff Lacey have depreciated.

Dam and to think it couldent get any worse for Calzaghe...to start he wasnt getting respected at all...and now this happens?? his best win in his whole carreer was overshadowed by a guy wit just 20 fights,he easily punished kessler, busted, bloodied him up!! something Calzaghe couldent do and Ward did it with no sweat...
