The fans know the sport better than anyone. He was the favorite for the tournament, and he was expected to go on and establish himself as the next best Super Middleweight. Ward practically won every round, and he's getting the credit that is due to him. He's the favorite for the title now, in my estimation, and with the skills he's demonstrated in addition to his seemingly unbreakable composure, there's no reason why he can't go on to bigger and better things.

the first fight, Miranda sure enough was more competitive with Abraham than he ever was against Ward.

Stop trying to put your own spin on history, Calzaghe beat Hopkins, fair and square away from home.

England did not win the World cup in 1966 in lots of peoples books either.
Cheated in the Quarters, Semis and Final.

I think that beating Lacey was a little more than we expected of Roy Jones at this stage of his career so it does enhance the win.

Like I said you exagerae this. Kessler won 2-3 rounds. Yeah, Ward beat him, yeah it is a very good win. Calzaghe proved that Kessler could be beaten by somebody who had fast hands, a high workrate and uses unorthodox angles. Ward has all that. The win may very well be a style thing. Ward has to prove that this is not the case. Against Taylor he can do so - also it depends largely how Taylor looks, he may be done now.

the second fight, Abraham smashed him to bits, he didn't have to go to the effort of outboxing him and failing to stop him.

Miranda was never handled by any fighter with as much ease as Arthur Abraham.

The way in which he did it was the most shocking thing to me, let looked razor sharp for a fighter who was supposedly shot. Shot fighters just don't perform like that.

BS. Read my post to this. Abraham dominated Miranda up to the freak accident and even after it he nearly knocked Miranda out and won the fight. Ward never proved he could do something like that.

After watching the Lacy-Taylor fight, it was highly possible that RJJ would win. When you put two shot men in the ring, it's anyones guess.

Yes they do - when they are fighting other shot fighters. Lacy was a punchbag. My gran would've dazzled him. You stick Glen Johnson in the ring that night instead of Lump of Lard Lacy, and Glen knocks Roy senseless again.

You were generous in handing any rounds to Kessler, I've had this discussion with many people from the General Forum and even made a poll to assure myself that I wasn't getting carried away. People unanimously agreed that the fight was not competitive, and you could only really give 1 or 2 rounds to Kessler...and even then, you're being generous. He was thoroughly spanked.

Calzaghe had a very tough assignment with Kessler, it was maybe his most hard fought victory aside from the Hopkins and Reid wins. This was a whole different kettle of fish. Ward made it look easy, and he barely took a solid shot himself except for the odd wild left hook thrown in desperation. I'm not over exaggerating anything, Ward outclassed a leading Super Middleweight...he's arrived on the world stage in fine fashion.

We'll disagree on this. Roy looked very impressive, I can't go to far back in history and think of another shot fighter who looked so good in victory. We call them shot because they have absolutely nothing left, did Jones look completely finished last time out, irrespective of the competition? Not convinced. The feeling was that Calzaghe had beaten a fighter who could not longer pull the trigger, lost some of his quickness, and confident. He looked very confident against Lacy, his left hooks were so fast I could barely count them. Jones ain't making any type of comeback, but we overstated just how bad he had slid I believe.

I think that Lacey was more competitive than you are making out against Taylor and Taylor is a stylistic nightmare for anybody.

I did not expect Jones to win.

I expected Jones to win, but I didn't expect him to throw triple left hooks in the space of a single second like he used to back in his hey day.
