Yes, I have to agree this time, JCs resume has taken a massive hit tonight. His best win was Kessler, then a prospect - albeit a good one - comes out and beats Kessler convincingly. JCs 2nd best win I think was Jones - I say this best I dont even think JC beat Hopkins - so JCs 2nd best win, gets KO in the first round by a good solid Aussie fighter, Green done that easy. JCs resume has taken a hit, I dont care what anyone says. And tonight, it took a big hit.
Some people are actually acting surprised Roy got KO'd again! lol Calzaghe should have just finished Roy off instead of showing mercy. Better to go out against him rather than someone like Green!
Again, how can Roy Jones losing ( a man who has been knocked clean out twice before) affect Calzaghe? Nobody, and I mean nobody holds the Jones fight in that high regard. It was a money fight, albeit a one-sided money fight were Calzaghe beat 7 bells of **** out of Jones over 12 rounds. Pathetic hatred! You have to laugh.
A lot of people who will complain about these threads will be the same people who were saying how Kessler winning the super 6 will enhance JC's legacy and how Jones schooling Lacy proved he had a lot left and again enhances Joes legacy. Can't have it both ways. Most unbiased fans new way before Kessler and Jones lost that JC was never a great fighter. Take that 0 away and the resume is nothing special. When Kessler is your second best win, it's nothing special compared to what real "greats" have acomplished. I'm not hating but lets ****ing get real here, fellas. So yeah, I guess in a way this doesn't mean much because unbiased fans knew it already.
Fighting Roy was just a farewell fight for Joe, whatever happens to Roy now has nothing to do with his legacy. And Joe beat a better, sharper Kessler than the one who fought Ward. JC's legacy is based on amazing consistency. There are many fighters who, at some point, beat a prime ATG, yet also lost to mediocre fighters more than once. Joe always found a way to win in boxing from age 17 - 37. His worst performances were close decision wins, but he never got a gift decision, was never seriously hurt in a fight, was never outboxed, unified his title against undefeated belt holders twice with brittle hands. Interestingly, other fighters give Joe huge props for his career, just listen to what Eubank, Benn, Roy Jones, SRL, Lennox Lewis say about his undefeated streak. They know hod difficult it is to be consistent. It's the keyboard warriors that bash Joe for whatever it is he didn't do.
This fight doesn't effect Calzaghe's legacy in the least. Great win by Green, but he beat an overblown Light-Heavy. Roy had no business at Cruiser.
EXACTLY. Calzaghe fans love to use this type of logic when it works in their favor. Think of all the threads about Kessler enhancing Joe's legacy if he were to win the super six.
.....im guessing Wards resume just took a hit as well then since Ward is being given the big one by some US fans for beating a guy who only Calzaghe had beat.....since Calzaghes resume is on the slide....I guess Wards is too.
I'm thinking. Thinking really hard here...Nope, don't see any. I'm sure you'll dig one up though for good measure to promote your "argument"
