Drews sucks and was a paper champ. Beyer wasnt much better but he was better then Drews and Green looked like a monster against Beyer and would have KO'd him if not for the fight getting stopped. And even if his best weight was 175 the post I quoted to begin with said Jones didnt belong at cruiserweight which means he thinks Green is a cruiserweight which he really isnt.
**** you, jones is my favourite fighter all time but anyone with half a brain knew the score, your just trying to justify yet another calzaghe bashing thread.
I thought he looked like a monster for Beyer 1, too. He also looked good beating Eric Lucus. But yeah he had weigh problems after that and lost his way a bit. He seems to have recaptured some of his early form since moving to LH. But we'll have to wait and see what happens. Either way he was a legitimate world titlist at LH, and never at SM ( he won the "interim" world title beating Lucus).
I disagree. Calzaghe's resume is the same it's always been. It's just taken a few people this long to finally see the light, Calzaghe fans included, as much as they'd hate to admit it and will defend so otherwise.
Calzaghe is a very good fighter, it just shows he isnt as good as the top guys like Andre Ward, Danny Green, Glen Johnson. No shame in that
Anyone who put much value in Calzaghe's win over Jones Jr. is ******ed. Jones has been washed-up for years.
Guess ur new to boxing then mate ! .... oh dear maybe you should do some background information before opening ur uninformed mouth ! Ward !!! Green !!!! and Johnson !!!! - do me a ****ing favour ... if any of these guys defend a world title over 20 times and remain unbeaten come back and see me then maybe we can have a chat otherwise u know nothing !
Agreed ... the fight was all about money .. pension payments for em both even the build up to the fight was timid ....
Thats the thing, Jones was a decent name on Joes record. The other big name and JCs biggest win was against Kessler, who got schooled by Ward - and Ward beat him far easier than Joe. Then there is Hopkins, where the result is split in 2, Bhop - past his prime and still battling, tests JC and arguably won. JCs other big name is Jones, JC knew Roy was shot and so did everyone, but its a big name that JC gets credit for. That big name got KO in the first round against a good, solid Aussie fighter, who whilst can hit - is far from a great. JC mightve been a good fighter, but I cant see how his resume HASNT taken a hit recently.
