RJJ and BHop wins should not be counted as among the greatest wins of JC. They simply are not the same fighters as when they fought ten years ago. They are the same people but they don't have the same elite skills that they were once known.
If Calzaghe's win over Jones meant nothing at that time, then his resume hasn't taken a hit. Calzaghe broke Kessler down mentally, which may or may not have something to do with how Kessler performed against Ward. And besides, it might be that Ward is just exceptionally good--the loss might not say that much about Kessler at all. If Kessler does somehow win the tournament (and beat Ward in a rematch), then I think there would easily be an argument that it enhances Calzaghe's legacy. We all know Kessler hasn't gotten any better since that loss, so I don't see how it couldn't reflect well on Calzaghe. Calzaghe's best win, though, was against Lacy. Everyone talks about how Lacy was overrated, but he was a champion, he was undefeated, and he was destroying everybody. Calzaghe was just that much better than him, and he literally destroyed the man's career. Perhaps Calzaghe should have taken it easy on Lacy so that he could go on winning and make Joe look good... If Hopkins can still be ranked top 5 p4p, destroy Kelly Pavlik, and who knows who's next...I don't see how that doesn't help Calzaghe's legacy. There's an argument that Hopkins won that fight, but I've watched it numerous times and can't find a way to give it to him. P.S. Hopkins needs to take on Dawson. If Dawson wins, which he won't, then we can get Calzaghe to come back and fight him and either shut up the critics or confirm their suspicions about his opponents.
