Was just watching the (terrible) fight back and heard the commentaters mention Joe's same day weight was 181. Always been interested in same day weights. Joe was a beast at super middle and he still carried a more weight into this LHW fight. I've always wondered about Pavliks fighting weight as well. Does anyone know many more same day weights for Calzaghe or Pavlik or any other big at the weight fighters? Hopkins refused (as was allowed as it was a mandatory) to weigh in on the same day.
Didn't Pavlik weigh 178 in his last fight hence he is moving up to 168. I always like fighters who don't kill themself to make weight. Anymore then 6 or 7 pounds and it's getting too dangerous. When you hear about guys losing 20 pounds you have to be scared for them.
Me too BUT the 24 hour weigh-ins were brought in as a safety measure to allow boxers to re-hydrate and it does seem to work. I can't see the weigh-ins ever being moved forward again.
Clottey weighed in at 170 (fully clothed) for his fight with Corrales, though that was at a catch-weight of 149.
Just wondering why that was at a catchweight of 149? Corrales was moving up 2 weight classes anyway, and Clottey is a welter....strange :huh
Sorry Will, what does this mean? I though the same day weights were just done for the record and no fighter had to comply?
Ah right, makes sense now. I got confused that the fight was or wasn't a mandatory and thats why Hopkins didn't have to weigh in. Cheers.
