I think that battering a helpless opponent while you taunt him and laugh in his face is a very *******-ish thing to do. I don't care if Jones did it before or not, he was a dick for doing it back then, but I never saw him do it like Calzaghe did to him, it seemed almost sadistic to me. Also, I think there's a little difference between doing it to a young, prime opponent who's just not as good as you, and doing it to a badly faded 40 year old far removed from his best.

Yup. It'd be one thing if Calzaghe was clowning Kessler or even Hopkins like that, but Roy is just gone; it's like if Trevor Berbick spent 6 rounds clowning Ali, just no call for it.

I love the idea that 11 people actually think Calzaghe's showboating was "insensitive"!

I checked it just because I didn't agree with number 1.

I can't vote in the poll because neither option fits my sentiments. I DIDN'T like Calzaghe's showboating (as I never do) but RJJ definitely had it coming. **** Calzaghe and the current incarnation of Jones.

Jones may have been a dick for doing it then, and Calzaghe may have been a dick for doing it now, but INSENSITIVE?

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

    It's ****ing BOXING.

Perhaps it's not the best showing of sportsmanship, but who really cares? Calzaghe always does **** like that, and lest we forget, ROY HIMSELF started showboating early on until Calzaghe broke his will to fight around the end of the 3rd.

Had Jones not showboated himself early-on, I tend to believe that Calzaghe may have toned it down. But isn't it also true that Roy was cursing and verbally taunting Calzaghe throughout?

This is much ado about nothing.

EDIT-You did not actually use the word, I now realize. I was caught in the spirit of the poll options still.

I still love the idea of it.

"Look how insensitively that Calzaghe guy is acting towards poor Roy!"

Jones probably didn't care all that much.

If it was "insensitive" it was to the fans.

What's the point? Just freakin' fight, it was annoying.

I thought it was a bit excessive. The occasional wind up, or psyche out move is fun, but when you have a beaten man in front of you, the best way to show off is to just knock him out.

Ummm. He did do that to be b-hop who is actually 3 years older than jones but obviously not as past it as him. Please don't make an Ali comparison either as both men are in their late 30's and Ali had freaking parkinsons for God's sake! Oh, I guess my option is what goes around comes around and I'm a big RJ fan too.

Roy has done it much worse, to much worse opponents, his fans weren't crying their tears now.

Any RJJ fan who thinks Calzaghe didn't deserve the right to showboat, is a hypocrite and a complete idiot.
