Quite a good read I think. He admitted that he didn't hear the ref counting til he got to 3 in the Jones knockdown, and that he was "really in trouble". I think that was visible in the fight, but the first i've heard him talk about it.

Oh and no comments about the title of the article please if you don't agree, as he doesn't even say that in the article!

Good article. Joe's a smart guy. I basically felt the same about his year as he did. It's good he is starting to do some things that will keep him busy after he retires. I hope he fights a couple more times this year before calling it quits.

Wow.... He says he was in trouble, I couldn't tell by his reaction.... He composed himself well for being as hurt as he says he was... I guess that is just another thing that makes Calzaghe a great fighter.

He looked shaky when he first stood up IMO, but after 10 seconds seemed ok. Steve Bunce felt he was actually completely out for a split second when he hit the canvas, i'm not sure on that one but it did look a bad knockdown.

3/4 secs i think it was. That's not entirely related though, i've been hit before and not been able to hear correctly for a few seconds... doesn't matter if you're on your feet or not.

well usually, the ref instructs the other fighter to the neutral corner, and then picks up the count around 3 or 4

That's why he never finished Jones off - he was always afraid of getting caught again. He has said that many times, and little did he know, when in the ring, it was not a clean punch that stunned him. It's not because he was going easy on Jones, letting him go 12, "because he was his friend", like some on here would have you believe.

  13. Now if only he'd admit "B-Hop and RJJ would have destroyed me if I had met them earlier in their careers and I'm sure glad I never got to find out". That would help straighten out some serious ESB misconceptions a good bit. :nod

I couldn't get past the article title, "JOE CALZAGHE SAYS: My legacy is secure after fantastic 2008". Once I saw that, I knew it was just a trash article.

The article had nothing in it that said anything like that - see what my original post said, or try actually reading before concluding!
