I know the Joe can pack any stadium in the UK, but does he have the same kind of rabid fans that are willing to travel to Las Vegas and spend thousands of dollars like the Hatton crowd? I have this feeling that the atmosphere won't be as pro-euro as the hatton/may fight.
No, he doesn't have that kind of drawing power. And him fighting B-Hop is not as exciting to the general boxing populace as Hatton vs Floyd anyway.
Not as many as Hatton but there are about 10,000 going out. I got some friends together and easily got 16 people. There's a lot of interest. It will mainly be Welsh folk but I predict half the crowd will be from the UK.
i can think of better fights to spend my hard earned on. this will be shite. gauranteed. i reckon tarver woods will be much better...
This is true but the people of Wales have a different mentality about the fight. It's not every day a fighter like Calzaghe comes around and it's not every day he has headlined a big show in Vegas. The Welsh will be there in numbers with a small smattering of other UK residents I reckon.
haha ok thanks ya'll, a lot of people think this fight will be a snoozer but I beg to differ. People including myself have speculated that it may be hard for Calzaghe to get fair treatment by the judges and refs. All of that aside i think BHop will need a KO to take the win from calzaghe, and he knows it. I don't think Bernhard will be scared of Joe and he may come out throwing.
Hatton's mass appeal is tied into his love of football and his well crafted man of the people persona that has led to a mass following amongst the soccer boys. If you've ever watched an international soccer match you'll see how the rumpus regarding the booing of the American anthem came about. Wouldn't have thought Calzaghe will have as many fans but they should be better behaved
It's not only the number of the hardcore Hatton fans willing to travel across the Ocean... it's their VOICE! 1000 singing Hatton fan is louder than 10000 jush uhh-ahhh-ing Calzaghe fans... Of course it's gonna me a massive pro-Calzaghe crowd as most american fans booed Hopkins in the US press conferances but don't expect the same kind of fan cheer... Hatton's support in the Mayweather fight was one of the strongest ever, a week before the fight Las Vegas was waking up to the wonderland chants...
even though it may be a 'shite' fight, its still monumental for the face of boxing and especially the legacies of bhop and joec.id much rather see history being made than watch tarver get ko'd by an average woods.
Question- So would Joe fighting Jones been huge? I think it would had been way bigger than this. Sorry thats my opinion
