The only thing Conteh has is natural weight , Conteh was good , but Calzaghe really is on nother level and I think he would outwork him
I've only seen Conteh in extended highlights against Ahmuda (spelling?) but was impressed to say the least. Fast, powerfull with good combos but above all a vicious attitude in the ring.(especially with the head) Would have loved to seen it as I think they're well matched.
Conteh had the superb boxing ability to keep Joe in Check, Conteh had the Hitting Power to severly Hurt Joe, Conteh had the Combination punching, and Conteh had the Vicious Attitute, Joe, with his chin up in the air would get a rather nasty surprise from the Young Conteh (before the Rot set in !) John tried to be a Heavyweight and went back down to Lightheavy He wouldnt Find Joe as strong or dangerous as many of the Lt Heavy Guys he fought.
The old "big man" / "small man" issue. Conteh (at his best).....his punches would hurt JoeCal. 21 May 1974LondonChris Finnegan (British, Commonwealth & European Title)Won KO Rd 601 Oct 1974LondonJorge Ahumada (won vacant WBC Light Heavyweight Title)Won Rd 1511 Mar 1975LondonLonnie Bennet (retained WBC Light Heavyweight Title)Won KO Rd 516 Aug 1975ScrantonWillie TaylorWon Rd 109 Oct 1976CopenhagenAlvaro (Yacqui) Lopez (retained WBC Light Heavyweight Title)Won Rd 15 But after the Yacqui Lopez fight, the partying started and JoeCal could probably outpoint him.
