I selected 130 because IMO it was when Camacho was at his best fast, aggressive, hit hard and wasn't gun shy yet But how about at every weight they both fought at.
Superb match up! Camacho - he's got the speed and skill to stick and move. But once he gets tagged he'll resemble a deer in headlights.
I rate Pacman very highly at these lower weights. He had power and threw in-out flurries all night, at a break neck pace. Camacho does have speed but Manny matches him in handspeed maybe even faster. Manny did get soundly outboxed and countered by JMM for long stretches at 126 so I think he has trouble with Camacho early. However, that was at 126, looking back Manny was so raw, just sticking out a jab and trying to ram that straight left down the pipe, almost falling over himself to get full power, rinse repeat for 12 rounds. Roach really aided his style. Manny was relentless vs David Diaz and looked amazingly sharp and accurate in Morales 2 and 3 fights all at 130. At 130, Manny still had slight balance issues but was incorporating his right hook and was less straight left dominant. He set his offense up better. He was more seasoned and it really showed between 2007-2008 with the Hatton fight and then kicked off his crazy WW run of ODLH, Cotto and Margarito. Manny by late stoppage, too powerful for too long in the fight and has a style Camacho has not seen before.
I love Pac. But, at 130, Camacho is too fast, too slick, and has a great chin in the event Pac tags him good a few times. (Camacho went 12 rounds with Chavez and Trinidad without a knockdown, so Pac ain't stopping him)
Yep. Camacho's NEVER been knocked out. Doesn't mean he can't but he's faced the best of the best in Chavez, Trinidad and DeLaHoya and only hit the canvas once.
camacho had one of the all time great chins.. but, man, instead of describing camacho as "post-rosario", when he went safety first, it would be described as camacho "post-pacquiao".
Pacquiao has a different delivery system than they do. Pacquiao is extremely fast, extreme stamina and very awkward throwing punches from all angles from the southpaw position. Pacquiao hurt everybody he ever fought during his prime years. He may not KO Camacho, but he will hurt him and badly hurt him. Camacho would lose this fight.
I think Pac's own speed, intensity, and unorthadoxy helps him find Camacho more than he (Camacho) would like...and Pac was always in great condition, so he could and would push a crazy pace on Camacho. I feel Camcho would take quite a few of the early rounds, with Pacquiao coming on late...Pac by decision for me, in a close one.
