Catchweights should be banned from boxing but do you need to be reminded that it was FLoyd and Cotto who insisted on a catcheweight when they fought Canelo.

When you're the draw in boxing as Canelo is, then you can make such demands in a sport that the word integrity within the orginizations does not exist.

Listen, Manny Pacquiao kept stepping up the ladder and avoiding Juan Manuel Marquez most through most of his weight climbs.

Marquez is the one chasing after Pacquiao and so he gave in to Pacquiao's weight demands.
If GGG is as good as he thinks he is, he'll come down to 155 lbs and force Canelo to have to fight him, just as Marquez did vs Manny Pacquiao through each of their fights.

Did'nt matter the weight, Marquez schooled Pacqiuao each time.

Where GGG went wrong is when he offered to come down to 154 lbs to fight Floyd Mayweather.
If he can fight the P4P King there, he can fight "no skill", "lead feet" Canelo at 155 lbs.

Having said that, the problem in boxng isn't the fighters making catchweight demands, its the greedy boxing orginizations that let the fighters with drawing power set the rules.

All I'm saying is that in Canelo's biggest fight of his career, Mayweather drained Canelo forcing the fight at 152 lbs.

Canelo calls the shots now, and if Mayweather set the weight limit back then, why not Canelo now that he's in position to call the shots?

Though I don't like that fighters with drawing power are allowed by boxing orginizations to set the rules, Canelo has been on the short end of the stick in those types of situations so I see nothing wrong with it being Canelo's turn to call those shots now.

You guys have to take into account that Canelo does not need Golovkin, its Golovkin that needs Canelo Alvarez.

Golovkin wants Canelo Alvarez, he must bow down to the king, that's been the protocol in boxing for as long as I've been following the sport.

at least they had a reason for catchweights since they were outweighed by 15-20 pounds but Canelo will probablu outweigh GGG on fight night. If he was so comfortable at 155 he could just burn off that extra pound and be undisputed champion at 154 but he cant

That's the boxing orginizations way of washing their hands of all of this, but if they had any integrity and enforced the rules fairly, they'd make it illegal for catchweight limits to be set in World Championship fights.

Canelo could have said no, but he chose to fight for the money and notoriety.
Just like Canelo made the decision to fight for those, so to GGG has to make the same decision.
If GGG wants a payday and notoriety, he will give in to the demands set by Canelo.
If he doesn't want to bow down to the demands, then he should call for the WBC to strip Canelo.

    Pretty simple logic here.

Any boxing fan justifying this is helping ruin the sport.

Canelo knows he has no where to go. So does Oscar. Thats why they are keeping him at 155. Charlo bros and Andrade beat him. How does he do at 160 against Quillin, Lee, GGG??

While i agree with all your JMM stuff, thats to be expected of the cowardly cheat Manny Pacquiao - drugged up to the eyeballz and still having the gall to drain the life out the cherrypicked opponent

Thats NOT what you would expect of a Mexican

Dont give him a pass for it Divac. If he's a real Mexican he should RELISH going to war with Gennady at 160

Seeing him run from GGG like Manny did from JMM is an embarrassment to us Mexicans :oops::oops:

yeah exactly. hes too slow to be the man at 154 or down and not powerful enough for 160 and up. while I think he has the tools to beat GGG obviously his only handlers dont think so. Im starting to think that canelo doesnt beleive he can beat a real MW and because of that I'm starting to lean toward GGG winning or canelo never fighting him.

Id rather he just came out and said "Look, myself, my team and Oscar cannot see any scenario where i dont get beaten by GGG. We dont want the fight. Sorry but we are just being honest and GGG will be moving up in weight after another fight or 2 if he unifies".

Never guna happen but its just as clear as day, we all know it, they must know that we know that this 155 thing is just pure desperation that it weakens GGG or he refuses to fight at all. If some form of negotiation was to happen at some point GBP will throw in alsorts of crazy demands other than the catchweight. Glove demands, awkward drug testing demands, pure desperation.

Those defending him, fair play standing by your guy but come on its just so obvious. Not the 1st duck in history and he is ducking a monster but the 155 story is a real fairy tale that your really struggling to defend.

catchweights can be treated as just exhibition fights for the purpose of money without belts.
