Vini, Vidi, Vici, I came, I saw, I conquered. Went home, and 3 weeks later fought the "Neanderthal Man."I had fun over a great career. None truly tougher. Who am I ?
dpw- so right you are Mickey Walker, with Jack Kearns sailed across the pond, flattened Tommy Milligan on June 30,1927,partied vigorously in England, sailed home, and a few weeks later licked yesterday's version of Jake LaMotta,Ace Hudkins in Chicago.Incidentally, years later after Turpin upset Ray robinson in London June 10,1951,the British press who saw Walker ko Milligan in 1927, believed that Mickey Walker, would have licked Ray Robinson,as do I.At middleweights...None were tougher than the Toy Bulldog when not in his cups....
He seems a bit forgotten and left out of many Greatest Middleweight lists. It's a shame. His record is fantastic and he looks very good on film.
a welterweight and middleweight who was able to destroy competent heavyweights. the shame is that he is often remembered for the greb loss and the schmeling beatdown rather than his brilliant accomplishments
