Reading between the lines, Cameron may very well be next in line to face Green, should the struggle continue to find an oponent. Fingers crossed it eventuates.

Cameron/ Green would draw well.. Aust vs NZ. Place the fight in NZ and half the nation will show up. Australia's economic future would also enhance with all the Kiwi dole bludgers pissing off to Sheepville for the sake of the fight, then realising "Hey Bro.... we got no more doe to get back to Bondi"

For those who doubt Cameron's ability to make Cruiser, if he is coming in at around 215 currently it should be a cinch.

Think about it, weight reductions for weigh in's which consist of carb depletion, general food reduction and dehydration can enable a fighter to drop 15 pounds or so.
Most decent sized cruisers who weigh in at the 200lb limit would likely rebound up to at least 215 by fight night anyway.

The difference for Cameron is that as a heavy he simply doesn't need to do this, which I'll admit would make his last 24 hours quite a bit more comfortable, but there is no reason at all why he couldn't do it to make weight.

Forget about him needing to lose anything in the way of muscle mass or size, it would just rely on a few days food and water manipulation then a nice rebound within 24 hours.

Green would know this well though, which is why he is even less likely to agree to a fight. We would likely be talking a 30lb weight difference come fight time.

I would find it really hard for Cameron to come in at under the 200 weigh limit. On boxrec, his weight is normally around 230..unless that is on fight night. If he does fight Green with a big weight difference, Green won't stand a chance. I think it would be a massive mismatch..

I just can't see them being in the same weight range.
When I first heard about this proposed fight, it kina shocked me.

Does this smell like another Chris Byrd? Ok I no Chris dropped to light-heavy, but hell Cameron is in great shape as a heavyweight muscular and carrying very little fat. He'll need to drop muscle to make the weight and thats not a good sign i have no doubt the drop will weaken him thats if he can make it at all. I have heard rumours they want a catch weight of 95kgs but doubt Green would take it. Cameron to make 90.75 or thereabouts for the cruiser limit would still need to dehydrate to make the weight IMO Green would be comming into the fight at a more natural weight feeling strong whereas Cameron IMO would be weight drained and weak. Id siggest they take a fight at Cruiser to test the waters before stepping in with green.

Cameron set for career defining switch

    Tuesday May 18, 2010

    Source: ONE Sport

Shane Cameron's professional boxing career is about to take a new twist after deciding his immediate future is no longer as a heavyweight fighter.

Cameron told ONE News' Craig Stanaway it wasn't the brutal loss to David Tua or the farce against John Hopoate in March that forced the decision.

In fact it's the very real prospect of fighting double world champion Danny Green that has lured Cameron to drop out of the heavyweight division.

To get a shot at Green at the end of the year he has to transition into the cruiserweight division.

"This is my dream. If it's fighting in cruiserweight for a few years then that's what I'll do," Cameron says.

Critics might argue that the decision is an admission that he cannot make it in the heavyweight division, but Cameron isn't fazed.

"You're always going to get your critics at the end of the day. What matters is what I think, and I'm happy to drop down to cruiserweight.

"This is a great opportunity for me to win a world title."

In his last fight Cameron weighed 105kg but will have to drop 15kg to make the cruiserweight cut-off of just over 90kg.

Cameron's next fight comes on a Danny Green undercard in July.

Dropping 15 kg for Cameron is a massive ask..
The guy barely has much body fat..
He sure will be weakened badly if he is to make it under 90 kgs.

If I was Cameron I would take a catch weight fight on the Green card against one of aussies top CW's...say Vea or McCraken...this gives Shane the chance to get down in weight while having an advantage over one of our current best fighters in the division.

It also adds to the promo of Green V Cameron if he woops some top ranked CW ass :yep

My Mistake Ranser, I thought for some reason Cameron was coming in at around 215 - 220, which would mean 200lb could be done by what I mentioned.
If he is currently coming in at around 230lb it is a different kettle of fish altogether as that would mean a minimum of a 10lb weight drop before he even considers the rest.

Sure it may be possible,. but he may look nothing like the fighter we see at the moment.

Apparently Cameron has already dropped aropund 7kg - so he's halfway already. But to be honest he's always looked a little pumped up to me - like he does a lot of weights, and I've also heard that he has in the past struggled to maintain keeping his weight up.
Not sure about the Green fight, but Shane should avoid Vea unless he likes getting knocked out IMO - Shanes always there for straight punches, and Veas right hand would find the mark all night long I reckon...

Ray Kelly should be consulted for this.
