Hoppa looked disinterested, out of shape and had only fouling tactics on his mind. I know people were pissed off with the ref but honestly i believe the fight would have got worse if aloud to continue. I'd like to see Hoppa get a 6 months suspension for wasting everytbody time and money. He should apoligise to Brry Michael the promoter and never be matched with an opponent of rating again.
Bit harsh mate.....just look at Barry Michael reaction....he wanted the fight to go on...he was not upset at Hoppa...only the refs call...he said we would fight Hoppa again (Cameron) Everybody knows what Hoppa is doing in the ring....nobody better than Barry....they knew he would bring the rough house spoiling game...thats why Shane was ready and reacted with the same tatics
It looked to me like Cameron was doing most of the holding...the ref at one point said to both "Stop Holding or I'll disqualify you both".....Hoppa then gets DQ. Amateurish ref reacting like an animal in the spotlight. He had the logical option to issue warnings followed by point deductions...you just dont stop the fight like it was done!
Tend to agree....Shane was doing the same back....Shane threw Hoppa down twice...everybody must have missed that....I guess Shane did throw 2 jabs at the start of round 2
Being bad for the sport and putting in a **** early performance aint grounds to be dq'd without sufficent warning.. The refs decision was disgusting.. Imagine if this bloke ref'd the likes of Sakio Bika and the Jungle boy..The 2 would be dq'd every fight before the end of 1st.
I haven't seen the fight, and it certainly sounds like Malcolm Bulner should have deducted points prior to DQing, but let's not forget he's an experienced referee. Bulner has been refereeing for about 40 years. Can remember him from the TV Ringside days in the early 70's, and he went on to World Title fights in various countries, including Kostya Tzu etc. It's not like an inexperienced ref has just got stage-fright and panicked. Maybe it was a good call - doesn't sound from the other posts that Hoppa came to fight - maybe he wanted to break another arm?
would be nice to hear Dino's take on all this but i dont think he posts here anymore.terrible stoppage.fight would probably degenerated into a farce but was stopped too early.
What's the point in allowing a fight to continue for the sake of deducting a point if the guy you've warned twice in one round has shown his intent is to foul his opponent? Why wait and let him do some real damage when he's shown no sign of complying? If he had allowed the fight to continue, Hoppa could potentially have injured Cameron twice more - once requiring a point deduction, and once more for the fight to be stopped.
Lets face it.........Hoppa was a ****wit playing footy...............now he's a ****wit boxing...........the bloke is an overrated waste of space. And yes I'd luv to hear Dino's version on last nights events, it will be nothing short of comical.
can see your point and agree somewhat but i think a point deduction and a warning should have been given IMO.I feel a little sorry for the fans that payed good money to watch that card.
the ref made a stupid call. you'd think it was his first fight. i would doubt that if hopoate was deducted a point, then another one if he continued and was told point blank that the next time he will be disquallified, that he would have continued exactly the same. maybe a little, but he probably would have started to behave much better. if he didn't, then at least there would be noone to blame but himself. i mean really the refs have to learn to leave their ego outside the ring. barry michael couldn't have said it any better than when he said 'it's not a tickling contest ffs'.
Hopoate is a turd, he needs to be flushed from boxing as he was from league, a pity he fouled out rather than giving Cameron the opportunity to beat him properly. What a shitfest of a "fight", if Hopoate cant box then he shouldn't be sanctioned
