I haven't seen too many posts on this fight, so lets hear it! What is your prediction and analysis for this fight?
Campbell will box and move . . . no way he'll fight Diaz "tit for tat". Diaz will wear him down in the early rounds and knock him out in the 9th or 10th round. But if Campbell can run away and try to survive . . . it can also be a wide UD for Diaz.
should be entertaining. Campbell hits HARD when he sits on his shots but Diaz's style is to not let his opponents get set. he's gonna outwork Campbell with some exciteing early and middle rounds. by the 7th or 8th is gonna be clear thats Diaz is just too busy and too strong phisicly.
Here's my two cents on Juan Diaz: going into the fight with Frietas less than a year ago he was regarded as one of the premier lightweights by default, since the rest of the weight class was so weak. Before Frietas his biggest wins were against Lakva Sim and Randy Suico. Now I'm not trying to diminish his last two wins, but fighters rarely go from 'solid but unspectacular' to 'elite' in the span of two fights. Therefore, I'd like to break down Frietas and Diaz fights more closely. First, we know Frietas' heart was not in the right place, he simply couldn't match Diaz' heart in pitched battle, and people convieniantly forget that Frietas was matching Diaz punch for punch in the early going, and ultimately it came down to Diaz' superior stamina and heart in a tough fight. Diaz can match, but probably not far exceed Campbell's desire going into this fight, and Frietas' stamina was notoriously bad. Cambell's workrate has been stellar for all twelve rounds since moving to 135. Julio Diaz definitely represents Juan's biggest win to date, and for good reason. However, Julio, like Frietas, has shown a tendancy to meltdown in the past. He was once starched in the opening round by an average opponent. Though he put up a valiant fight against JLC, he ultimately ended it on his knees, not on his back. My point is, Julio wilts under pressure. Campbell, since moving up has been consistent, and in my opinion, consistent enough to stick to the plan and outbox Diaz. In fact, I would be surprised if Nate put Juan on the canvas in the early rounds for a count.
Consistent? The Galaxy Warrior has 8 fights at 135 to this point. 3 wins by TKO 2 wins by UD 1 WIN by RTD (FIGH STOPPED at 6th round due to Cut) 2 loses by SD (from opponents with a record of 23-0 and 21-3) Where's the consistentcy? And if he could lose via split decission to fighters with that record . . . how do you expect him to outbox Diaz who is 33 and 0 and who is very well known to be a very busy aggresive fighter. :think
i wont hes a great fighter just a bit past it. but i think juans just the better fighter. daiz late t/ko
Oh no I won't . . . Campbell has decent power . . . if he happens to hurt Diaz early this might change the scenario. An upset is always a real possibilty here.
Campbell is an under rated fighter, with good boxing ability. The problem is, he excels when guys give him room to move. Diaz WILL NOT do this. I can see Juan having some problems early with the speed and movement of campbell, until Diaz starts to really wear him down. As Diaz jab starts landing more and more, and campbell starts moving less and less the fight will swing clearly in the favour of Diaz. Campbell is too loose defensively in close quarters, and will find himself getting thoroughly beaten from this position. Although I expect he will move off the ropes and still land with counters, Diaz will break him down with his relentless pressure. Come the end of the fight, age WILL become a factor, and Campbell will start getting tagged to often as his legs tire. Diaz TKO round 10.
Campbell will probably be the best technical boxer that Diaz has ever been in the ring with, but I don't think this will be a close fight at all. Campbell will not be able to deal with Diaz's pressure past the first few rounds. He will break down mentally pretty fast and physically not long after that. He's past his best and although he tends to get up for big matches, Diaz gets up 100% for every match, shows improvements and fights with amazing spirit/aggression that a boxer like Campbell won't be able to handle. Campbell will try to box, but Diaz will find his way in with a jab way too often and force him to work at a very fast pace. Once Campbell starts getting frustrated he might try to brawl at times with Diaz and hurt him, but it will only be worse for him because Diaz has a very good, if not great chin.
I can also see Campbell turning to brawling in the mid-late rounds out of frustration. Like you said though; it (probably) won't help
