Part of me speculates that Nate did this on purpose to gain a tactical advantage because he was having trouble making weight, knew he would be stronger if he did not try to get down to 135, and realized that in today's filthy boxing world, Guzman received no fall out from his actions, and neither will he, especially if he plays it off like he tried, but was as surprised as anyone else that he did not make weight. Lets see, he came back half a pound lighter, so he never even came anywhere close to 135 at any time! He never warned the belt orgs he was having trouble. The main thing though, Nate is a very intelligent sounding guy and gives thought provoking intelligent interviews and often says stuff that is needing to be said, that others are afraid to say. He stands up to the big guns in boxing and slices them down to size. A guy this smart and this defiant, it seems implausible to me that he could miss weight by three or three and a half pounds and have no inkling that he would miss weight. Especially after he chewed Guzman up so badly for doing the same thing. Sure the other side of the coin is that maybe he lost some focus and was discouraged to go into a training camp for the lesser prize of Funeka after the bigger prize of Guzman fell through. Campbell knew he was going to 140 maybe he just sees this fight as his first fight at 140, plus he has the added advantage of forcing a 6ft1 guy to get down to 135 who actually got down to something like 133 for this fight! It seems this weight debacle gives Campbell the advantages unless you think he just had a lousy camp. I mean, if you KNOW you can't make 135 competitively anymore, than you aren't losing out on the marqueee fights at 135 simply because you can't fight at that weight anymore. The main things that sticks in my craw is how could he not know he wasn't making weight and be that far over, maybe someone else could answer this question for me, someone that knows about cutting weight. Is it possible to be three pounds over 135 and be surpised at not making weight when you hit the scale?

I am ONLY speculating here, I like to speculate, I am not saying that Nate definitely did ANY of this. Just sharing some possibilties. I hope he wins. Nate is one of my favorite people in ALL of boxing based on his courage in his interviews, let alone in his ring performances.
