[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]According to the news for fights, Nate Campbell went off on Golden Boy for seemingly delaying a fight between him and Marquez for November for the sole purpose of freezing out Pacquiao, while at the same time using Juan Diaz-Casamayor to freeze up Campbell with his WBO mandatories :

"Doesn't anybody actually promote fights anymore? A reporter who I like a lot told me one time, I won't say his name cause I don't want to jam him up, but anyways, he told me that Don and Arum are the only real "promoters" left anymore. That everyone else are just booking agents for the TV networks...So my thing is this. If Golden Boy really wants to make the Marquez fight, and isn't talking about November just to make both me and Marquez unavailable for a possible Pacquiao fight around that time, then lets go ahead and do this. Come up with a reasonable number for Marquez, get out of the way, and let Don distribute the damn fight.

"And one other thing. At least have the damn respect to notify the WBO that after playing all these games with us (Team Campbell and the WBO) for the past month regarding Casamayor fighting me, that you're still gonna do Casamayor-Diaz instead. That way, the WBO can strip his a--, and get him out of the way so either Khan or Peterson could be my WBO mandatory. Not only are you holding me up, but you're holding up these other guys who just want their shot. The shot that they fought for and earned, and the shot that you don't even want. Do the right thing, and stop playing these silly a-- games with people's careers."

Campbell is quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters. He is no bull**** both in and out of the ring.

    I like the man's attitude.

But if he fights Marquez, he loses.

Agreed. Marquez is sublime. He is no Juan Diaz, by any stretch of the imagination.

The most refreshing part of this article for me is the part about where cambell brings up how Khan and peterson is getting ****ed over by all this. Too often older fighters never want to give young good looking prospects their dues when they've earned their shots. Campbell seems like a pretty straight up dude.

Kinda like Margo signing all he has to, while the cotto camp be bullshiting about venue, gloves, and pay. huh?

Campbell is a great boxer and dirty, he'll have his hands full with Marquez.

    Understatement.

Peden knocked this guy out on two occasions. Marquez is faster and maybe hits harder than Peden, so I don't see what chance Campbell has. Nobody outboxes Marquez, and Pacquiao couldn't even knock him out.

Campbell is the type of fighter that would give Marquez fits. Leads with his head on the inside, quick combinations, and footspeed. I wouldn't mind seeing this fight, as it would also show Marquez is truly chasing big fights instead of just trinket belts if he can't get Manny.

****, everyone in the lightweight top 10 would pass the hat around.

I hope Nate gets picked up as a writer after he retires. Sure he's rough around the edges, but he brings up real, current problems in the sport.
