I liked Nate Campbell even before reading his stuff here and on internet fans. He is spot-on.

The thing is, De La Hoya is giving his fans exactly what they want. The 600,000 or so hardcore fans, who buy fights between non-mainstream names like Margarito and Cotto, are the ones he is letting down. however, De La Hoya is a mainstream name and has a differenct audience. These fans are being given the perfect fight. To us, Pacquiao is a smaller guy with a decent chance. To them, he's the best fighter in the world.

The fight is perfect for De La Hoya's fans. His demographic is different to what we are, as purists.

I'm not sure why people keep making these wild generalizations about all fans being this or that, all Oscar fans being like this or like that, it's nonsense, everyone is an individual. Some Oscar fans know the fight game inside out, some don't. I know a lot of Hatton fans who know **** all about boxing but still spend a lot of money travelling to the other side of the world to see him fight. I know a lot of RJJ fans who still think he is the best boxer in the world.
