C’mon dude, you do realise that you can’t even have over 10 fights if your fighting strictly elite level fighters in your own weight class, right? No ones resume is hurt by fighting stay busy type of fights, unless you’re Wilder and that’s the only kind of fights you’ve had. As far as Brook and Vanes go, those were not the fights team GGG asked for, both of them were late replacements for someone who couldn’t be bothered to sign a contract or cheated and catched a suspension. He went on to brake one guys face and KO2 the other one. Nothing to write home about really, but his resume is not hurt in any way.
Brook wasn't a late replacement. And team GGG knocked on Vanes door offering him a fight , Vanes did not ask team GGG. GGG had better options , but chose a guy whose body wasn't fit for a fight at 154 , let alone at 160
The Brook win is better than Hopkins w over DelaHoya. At least Brook is still a genuine p4p talent . I agree though that due to Vanes inactivity, and lack of clear top level W does not enhance GGGs resume very much. A quality contender but nothing more than a stay busy fight for the p4p Undisputed MW Champion
Brook isn't top 20 on the p4p list. Top 5 ranked p4p Hoya was lineal champ at 154. Brook at 154 is practically non-existent. . Hoya is a better win by miles.
WTF? Can GGG ever do anything right in the eyes of some? He did what he was supposed to do. VM said he was the hardest hitter he had ever faced. REALLY. What do some of you guys want GGG to do? I think it is probable GGG gets beaten a couple of times before he retires because he is simply getting too old. Maybe Charlo catches him. Maybe Saunders outpoints him. Who knows? But the guy has done all that has been asked of him throughout his career. He will be sadly missed when he leaves boxing and remembered as a classy, great champion.
Real sound advice just sit and wait. Try your best to gain as much ring rust as possible. Ggg is one of the fighters that is so much better when he active. That's all this fight was for. Mission accomplished
Better than it was but would end similar to all the rest who weren't granted TUEs NDAs and where the result didn't get in the way of his negotiations for Alvarez 1/2/3
Agreed. This fight was just GGG fighting an overmatched hopeless fighter intended for the KO highlight reel. No way is GGG taking on a risky opponent until he fights Canelo.
