Can a boxer's stock possibly get any lower than Valuev's?

    I agree with you on this score. But is it really Valuev's fault that the Chagaev fight was cancelled? The word is that the Finnish authorities nixed the bout. Valuev didn't have a chance to decide for himself.

    Also, is it reasonable to blame Valuev for not fighting Vlad on two weeks notice? Given that this fight would be Valuev's cash out bout, I think he deserves a chance to prepare carefully.

    I think the bout could have gone ahead if Valuev agreed to some vaccine shots. What I read was that when asked about that, they never responded and the bout was cancelled.

    Short notice goes both ways, though - Valuev was prepped for a southpaw and Wlad was not prepped for a 7'er. It's pretty apparent that King/Sauderland are angling for as many winnable fights as they can make. I don't lay it at Valuev's feet; he's always seemed like a decent guy. But his management is an embarrassment for the sport.
