It sounds silly at first blush, but how close can we get him? Loads of greats are generally accepted as being ahead of him; Pep, Saddler, perhaps Attell, Saldivar, Sanchez to name a few........but few could match his 20 title defenses over seven years, and his athleticism and seemingly innate blend of attack and slick defense puts him a notch above most. There aren't many I'd really put ahead of him, to be honest. Top 5 might not be too far off.

Top 5 seems a bit high but as you know I think he might be on a par with Sanchez.

The boxing mags of his day, usually had a Pedroza vs Sanchez fight as a "toss-up". The fight probably would of happened since Sanchez had taken care of the legend Gomez, and wasn't the type to "duck" such a big fight for the fans. Plus, Sanchez appeared to getting even better, before his death. Pedroza deserved such a fight in his own right.

Hmmm; well I have to ask..........if you rank him on a par with Sanchez, but outside the top 5 (if I read correctly), whom would be your Top 5?

I haven't given it much thought for some time but here goes.
    Pep
    Saddler
    Attell
    Armstrong
    Pacquiao
    Arguello
    Driscoll
    Sanchez
    Pedroza
    Saldivar/Marquez

    Something like that?

Where do we put George Dixon? Ring Magazine founder Nat Fleischer ranked Dixon as the #1 Featherweight of all-time. An old-timer...but he must have been a bad-bass.

Some of the ones i have all picked Pedroza. In saying that it would be 2 or 3 articles max. I've always thought Sanchez would edge him personally but it would be a fascinating matchup.

Nice. I guess I don't know a lot about Driscoll as I've only read a brief Bert Sugar synopsis on him, and got lost in his hyperbole at some point I'm sure.

As to a match between Pedroza and Sanchez, I can see either guy winning. As much as can be said about Sanchez not liking speed and boxing (which Pedroza would give him I think), neither did Pedroza. That argument goes both ways, and endurance is a push between the two. Honestly don't know. Sanchez probably punched a bit harder, but Pedroza was more elusive.......just a million scenarios there.

Thanks for the endorsement, I feel a lot more comfortable with my picks now that I know you do not agree with them.
