It's a long shot, but Rafael has a nice list of scalps on his resume, and I'm not sure just how far apart they are, if you really think about it. Based on the two signature wins against Barrera and Pacquiao, I'd have to rate Juan Manuel as the better of the two, but could a case be made for the reverse? Both have suffered losses in big fights, and both have rebounded for good wins. Their styles are rather different, making the comparison that much more difficult, but an interesting question nonetheless.
Absolutely not, mate. Make a case for him giving more entertaining fights? Absolutely, yes. He's a fan's dream. Rating him as a better total package as a fighter or having a better career? I can't see any way.
He had a better jab(one of the best jabs of the last 10-15 years),and probably the bigger puncher of the two,but that's probably where his argument ends. He never had the ******ed-like recuperative powers that 1 Manuel had/has.
Not really no. Although he did come close, Juan lost to Floyd and it seemed his career might be over, rafa then fought Lopez and nishioka. If rafa could still compete at an elite level and secured them scalps it would have been closer. Going into the Lopez fight I think I predicted rafa would overtake Juan. Of course rafa lost and Pac went on to outbox Pac and then knock Pac out. Any realistic argument is dead now.
Not even sure Rafa is the harder puncher though I maintain he had the better jab and could fight off the front foot better. JMM all day in nearly every way.
they both belong in the hall but rafael can't surpass jmm after the pac ko. btw, i've met both of them before. very fan friendly and even though there was a language barrier between us, they took time and were very kind to me.
Well, my job here is done. I got you to dig out an irregular emoticon to display attitude. Later, my man.
