Hypothetically? Sure, if he is siginificantly faster than his opponents.

Imagine losing to a guy with no arms and legs, I would never show my face in public again.

In the sense that anyone can beat anyone by luck at any time, the answer is yes... but its not very likely & they have virtually zero chance of coming out on top in a 3 fight series.

When I said Henry Armstrong,Sugar Ray Robinson,Willie Pep and Sugar Ray Leonard I was clearly (or so I thought) alluding to the lw,jww,ww divisions,as well as alluding to someone who has fought in those weight classes, and is supposedly an atg and maybe the goat, though he is also considered to have a non-existant defense.Since I can imagine that person being beat to death if he is placed in that end of the hall with some of the guys I have named. The question is,"can a defenseless fighter defeat a premier all time great?

Well, I wouldn't say that Frazier was defensless (he is pretty underrated defensivly) but for sure he kicked Ali's ass in the first fight and took a lot himself.

Rocky Marciano (underratedd also but pretty hittable) vs. Charles/Walcott

    Brewster KO5 Wlad (pre prime)

:huh seems to me you have been smoking the :rasta

In your head the question you are asking may sound like the greatest most mindbending question the in world, but to us it is coming out like :barf

The sports examples you came up with in the beginning don't do your arguement justice. If you are alluding to a specific ATG, there are no ATG without a defence, so you are better off giving this ATG a name so we argue about it. This ATG, may have limited defence in comparison to other ATG, but if they have an awesome chin, and great offence to be considered an ATG, they probably more than make up for the lack of defence.

He is referring to Pac as the defenceless fighter. Reading from his post, he resent the idea that Pac is being mentioned as peers of the fighters he mentioned in terms of AT Greatness

Your argument sounds good at the surface but is flawed. Defense is not actually what puts on the ATG list, neither is offense. It is a slew of factors, but at the end of the day it is accomplishments. And if in the hypothetical situation where Pac beats PBF, then yes, IMHO he is worthy of the top 15 of the ATG list.

Your logic is also flawed because you are basing it in hypothetical H2H match ups. Lennox Lewis would beat the crap out of several heavyweight but cannot be in the same breath as them.

ATG is a subjective list based on accomplishments and to a lesser degree skills and talents. PBF is much more classically skilled and talented than Pac, but I would not put him currently above Pac in my ATG list.
ATG is not a H2H list.

TL: DR - nice try but try again

bollocks hit the nail on the head.I do resent the idea that Pacquiao(a fighter I like by the way)is being considered for placement in "that" end of the hall.Henry Armstrong would kick his arse at all of those weight classes. So would Willie Pep,Sugar Ray Leonard and Sugar Ray Robinson. He has no business in that end of the hall.Of course he belongs in the hall but man we all know he better stay away from the deep end of that pool.He is not a top 10 (junior)welterweight of all time, let alone top 10 all time great. He is not top 20-30 either once you start rattling off the heavies and the middle weights and the welters. He is top 100 and that's the best he can do unless you rank him ahead of seldom mention's like Carlos Monzon and Carmen Basilio and Ezra Charles and Joe Walcott and Archie Moore and Harry Greb and Tony Zale and Emile Griffith and Nino Benvenuti and Kid Gavilan and Pipino Cuevas and Panama Brown and a ton of other fighters. In fact I don't think he could even be competitive against non hall of fame candidate Prince Naseem Hamed?Manny may get love from these old present day historians, but I see him taking a huge dip by the next generation. He just won't be seen as competitive against his hall of fame peers.Especially not those in the deep end.He is just too flawed a fighter.I still love him though.:thumbsup
