I've heard different points of view on this.....I heard over time a fighters chin can be improved, by improving the strength of the neck, none the less, I've also heard that you are born with a certain type of chin and no correction for it....if that is the case kahn is ****ed....

Your Thoughts? Can A chin be improved? and if so how?

Yes, through conditioning. Lewis was knocked out two times, but took great shots later. If a fighter is not in good condition he can get knocked out more quickly that if not. Training, rolling with punches like Duran used to do has a lot to do with so-called chin problems.

Improved defense, as well as learning how to clinch when hurt. Something Wlad has mastered under Manny Steward. Wlad's chin is still glass, though now he's learned how to protect his achilles heel alot better.

Chin in my opinion is all based on conditioning, though some cases differ. Hearns' conditioning was insane but couldn't take a punch well enough. This chin theory can be too complicated, any fighter can be dropped/knocked cold once caught right with a punch they don't see coming. It's all in the legs and when they go you're on the canvas.

A lot has to do with conditioning, the more punches a fighter absorbs in his career the more you see him hit the canvas or get KO'd as the career goes deeper. That's why fighters with poor defense don't have long careers.

I do not think chins improve, but a fighter's tactics to not be hit so cleanly can prevent a knockout. Some guys fight with thier chin more exposed, and then later they are more cautious.

In general, no - typically chins usually get worse over time. However, there are exceptions. George Foreman's chin, for example, seemed sturdier in his second career.

no. you can improve recovery time from the same punch with conditioning or you can strengthen the neck to better absorb the shock but if your neck is relaxed the same punch will hurt you just as bad. i think it has more to do with the structure and design of brain and skull.

I believe so- strengthening the neck and improving conditioning are 2 ways to do it. Depending on body type, adding some weight can improve it, too.
