Yeah. Maybe he could learn to switch to this mode once for a while. I'm afraid that he's a bit too old for that though. Why? Because it would be useful against bigger opponents. He wasn't facing much bigger guys untill now. Imagine him actually knocking out Grant with hayemaker-like power shots. Something like Holyfield-Bowe. That would send one hell of a massage even to Klits :good
Long term, I think so. For me anyways.... Like you said tho, you gotta take into account that Holyfield fought in a MUCH TOUGHER HW era(Lewis, Tyson, Golota, Bowe, Foreman, Mercer etc...)than Adamek is fighting now...... Hell..... id kill for a guy like Golota or Lewis or Bowe or even Mercer in TODAYS hw division.... Holyfield had 6 fights in HW before even taking a title shot.....Haye did it in 2.... Just goes to show that the division lacks any real good HW's. Adamek could probably get a title shot now if he wanted too, due to the lack of decent fighters. This HW division, sides Wlad, Vitali and prolly Haye, is real poor and lacks any depth, which is why i think Adamek could be like Holyfield :thumbsup
If I remember right, there was an interview saying that for this next fight they will be working on Adameks power more, trying to bring it up, and employ that as a weapon. So we will hopefully see KDs for Adamek in the Grant fight. And he needs that confidence in himself as well, that he can do it... and he can, but may have lost a bit fighting some tough whiskers in his last fights. I think he could definently pull out a lot more power out of his shots, and its a good idea to learn to do so, when he needs it, for example when he has somebody in trouble. But I don't think he should employ this tactic for his fights. He has been fighting this way for quite some time now, I don't think it would be a good idea to change now to a harder hitting, feet more planted style. Especially if he will be fighting Klitschkos next... his key there will be his lateral movement, and somehow getting inside of them... then again once he gets inside he could definently use this type of style to his advantage.. the only style actually that would be effective once inside.. hmm. Circling the outside even with lateral movement still keeps him within range to get constantly stung by that quick long jab. Holyfield seemed to have much better head movement then Adamek and a much better inside fighter, if Adamek tried this style I think he could have some success, but eventually could be in trouble. For these past few fights they say Adameks defense has improved, it has.. but its his movement that has kept him getting hit less, his in and out movement... not his head movement so much, though I don't think.. although there are definently improvements there as well compared to the past. I guess we would have to see it to pass any judgement. I just don't believe Adamek would have the type of success Holyfield had using Holyfields method vs. what he has been doing all along now. Thankfully Adamek is a very well rounded fighter, and if one method is not working as planned, he will change it up and fight differently, which has been very effective at times. It is easy to forget he is not only a good techinical boxer, but also a good brawler if need be.
Bull****. You must be one of those guys who claim Adamek was hurt it this fight. Btw, i can agree Adamek isnt a huge puncher but to assess him after 2 fights against Estrada and Arreola who've never been KOed might be a bit deceptive, dont you think?
I guess we'll find out. At least Adamek is willing to get in there, unlike Haye. I'm definitely supporting him :yep
Switching in and out of this mode at will would be awesome, if he could learn to do it properly. Plant his feet down and unload with his whole body when he has an opponent in trouble, or when an opponent isnt swinging back. But outside of those circumstance i'm just not convinced... he has been doing what he has been doing for too long now I think. He is 34.. like you mentioned. I think honestly he can get Grant out of there even with the style he has now, and I believe he will come into this fight with even more power then in the two previous fights.... hell this will only be his 4th fight at HW since what... October? That's not even a year..
Hell of a promo we have here. Man im rly impressed with this work. I hope the actual fight will live up to this promo ;] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADOwbBO4vBc[/ame] (sorry for offtopic)
No. Doesn't mean he can't be successful though. There have been plenty of smaller heavies that don't fight that way and have done well. I mean, he doesn't need to fight like John Ruiz or Chris Byrd either. He can fight like Tomasz Adamek and still beat most of the top heavyweights, as long as his chin holds up. Compared to the other heavies, he's a slick volume puncher.
