Yeah he can. Those writing him off are jumping the gun big time. Whomever is undisputed will NOT hold all the belts very long, If that even happens.
Great vid Rummy thanks for posting it! I agree with basically everything said, and as the old saying goes which you referenced, 'win this one & look good in the next one' is the case here. I came down on AJ a bit the other day, stating that he didn't look any better at all. In fact, I think he has regressed. He had the perfect opponent in front of him to show off any improvements & still looked lackluster and uninspired. Joshua had every opportunity to absorb the experience of 24 rounds with Usyk and use what he learned, but all I saw was a fatter, slower, more hesitant & possibly frightened fighter with an unimaginative plan of attack. But some are saying retire?! The last thing we need in boxing right now is less fights, especially from fighters at or near the top. And because the HW division sucks worse than ever, I think AJ can beat any of them, apart from Fury & Usyk!
Agreed 110%. If he's patient he could have another belt or multiple belts, but if he gets antsy and takes on Fury or Wilder relatively soon, he may very well be sent into retirement himself.
IMO AJ has the potential to be a three time world champion. The circumstances are unclear to me (whether Tyson Fury retired already or not). In case of vacant WBC title - here's AJ's chance. With a direct fight with Usyk or Fury, I don't think AJ has a chance to become world champion for the third time.
Wladimir Klitschko would be AJ's best win but he was 41 coming off a 18 month semi retirement after losing to Fury.. apart from that win who is there? Ruiz who wasn't one bit rated before he beat AJ? Pulev who lost to Chisora couple fights later? Parker? Who no one rates People forget Whyte severely wobbled him.. and people also forget he won the belt first off against Charles Martin.. I wouldn't rate one of AJ's wins decent...
At the same time AJ probably beats everyone outside the Top 2 guys more times then not.. I'm not convinced of Joyce as of yet, fought no one.
He has the big money behind him and teams pulling strings and selecting opponents and doing everything to get the advantage in any matchup. So I think clearly he can 'under the right circumstances'. Will it mean much, probably not. As everyone knows, this is basically how he became 'champion' in the first place, with Duva managing to pull strings to have Fury stripped immediately after the Wlad fight and then Hearn jumping on the opportunity to get the fraud who won the belt via Glazkov's knee giving out over to fight AJ at Wembley. That was all about manipulation and money. Even Martin fighting his first defence away from home against a contender like Joshua is basically unheard of. Normally they protect the belt for a while. But Hearn had the capital. Joshua never beat a proper HW champion to get any belt. Martin was a joke and Parker wasn't legit either. He got his belt from the Fury scatter and beat Ruiz, who had beaten nobody. Parker was later exposed as a second-tier HW. In comparison, Fury beat Wlad and Wilder to get his belts, away from home too as a heavy underdog. Both long-standing champions and the most dangerous punchers out there. Completely different. But despite all that, it is possible AJ lands something decisive against a Fury, Wilder etc. and does win a belt that way. He's such a 'good lad', so it would be great to see him get back to the top so the English can resume bowing down to him.
I can see it happening, especially if Usyk vacates the IBF. Joshua has a good chance at beating Fury. Being the underdog might workout for him.
LMAO has a decent chance against Fury? You on drugs? He couldn't knock out 2 small guys, he ain't knocking out Fury and there is zero chance winning on points against Fury. You know **** all about boxing son.
