Al Haymon is the saint of boxing, I think everyone knows this. He's able to bring boxing back on free network television.

Can he bring boxing back to its peak where it was extremely popular back in the 70's/80's.

    Please discuss.

    He's the ebola of boxing.

Boxing will go further in the doldrums with his meaningless in-house fights and cherry picked opponents for his cash cow fighters.

Nope. Boxing is all about politics and easy paydays now. Back then we had true warriors who actually wanted to fight the best!

He might elevate a certain demographic's interest in boxing.

I am not sure if this venture will succeed. Instead of spreading the banner across multiple networks, he should have used the cash to buy up as many prime time dates on NBC as he could. That way a viewer will only have to know of one network to see the fights. From a casual perspective, having to only remember one channel and time slot is better than multiple channels and multiple time slots.

I get why some American boxfans are happy they're catching up with the rest of the world when it comes to good fights on free nationwide channels. But what I don't get is why some people fail to see the part where he screws up big fights and "advises" his fighters to avoid dangerous opponents at all cost.

I think (hope) he's learned his lesson from the poor matches that were made during 2014, and honestly he's off to a great start for this year.

Getting Mayweather-Pacman done and putting together a nice initial card for the NBC debut is a terrific change from what we saw as fight fans in 2014. He has a huge stable of boxers, so hopefully he'll start pitting them against one another in a more continuous manner.

The 2nd NBC show should be a good one with Quillin-Lee fighting for a MW title and Garcia taking on Peterson- his best opposition since fight Matthyse.

The way I see it, he's probably not going to do business anytime in the near future with GB or Rocnation, so those 2 promo companies and their fighters are off the table. But Main Events, K-2 and possibly even TR might be viable companies where fighters from those stables could be matched up on PBC.

Not to defend Garcia, but from all accounts, his intention is to move up full time to the WW division. So this fight is supposed to be a "bridge" to getting him to the full 147 limit.
