It is obvious that the version of Ali from 1980 will have no chances against prime Foreman, Frazier, Liston or Tyson but if we go back to John L. Sullivan or further to Usyk, do you think Ali would have been able to beat any of the world champions in their prime, fighting according the rules of their time?
Who of the prime champions do you think Ali would have been able to beat and how?

Ali had significant signs of Parkinson's by 1980, could barely touch his nose when tested. No commission should have ever signed him off to fight. Downright criminal really.

    No.
Ali physically was like a zombie.
And with all honesty he shouldn't have been allowed in a boxing after 1977.

Apart from Parkinsons the Ali in the ring with Larry Holmes was also severely comatosed by a quack doctor administering him thyroid pills like candy and drugging him.

A 16 lbs heavier ,older and still Parkinsons ravaged Ali looked much better in December 1981 fighting Trevor Berbick.

if you put aside how shot Ali was I actually still scored the fight a draw or close win for Ali.

There is thus a sense of futility matching 1980s Ali with a prime world champion.

But I will say if Ali had been the Holmes fight weight of 218lbs and not drugged up by a quack so than the Berbick fight Ali.in with a qorld champion??...a Weaver fight may be his best bet to beat that prime HW champ and you got it 1986 Trevor Berbick.

Regardless by that point Ali was clearly compromised by Parkinsons Morelos than age and weight.

If he hadnt got this horrible illness I could have seen him carrying on fighting at the level of the 2nd Spinks fight through 1980-1983.

Probably Usyk, but I doubt anyone else.

Assuming it is Ali in the same condition as he was in the Holmes fight, the options are severely limited. Even Marvin Hart beat Jack Johnson so I don't believe the 1980 version of Muhammad Ali beats any heavyweight champion.

If you can't throw punches, you won't even be able to beat middleweights. I would pick Marvin Hagler to outpoint this version of Ali. Not that i would actually want to see this fight. I prefer not to think about it.

Is it about the heavyweight champions? Probably Ali doesn't beat anyone. I give 1981 Ali a chance to beat a completely unprepared and unmotivated Leon Spinks (Like in rematch) in a 10-round fight. And maybe Jess Willard?
