I'll always support a British fighter and indeed i've been present at several of Khan's bouts where he's looked very good.

But after losing so badly so early in his career can he come back and compete at world level or were we all just hanging too much hope on someone who is merely just a very good domestic fighter?

Yes he can, he's still very young and can still improve.

He is only 21/22 mate, most fighters are just getting started at that age in terms of television, certainly VERY few fighters at his age have access to trainers like Floyd Mayweather JR or Freddie Roach, you know? :)

Definitely. Give him time and eventually he'll have the experience.

i doubt it. the guys got good skills and can punch fairly hard but his chins shocking , he'd have to duck anyone with a punch and warren would have to be at his cherry picking best to get him a world title . WBO is the only possiblity, and thats remote i reckon.

    never say never in boxing
but in khans case it is incredibly tough for him too do this, mainly because of the guys he has to beat to get a title at lightweight
casamoyor, jmm, juan diaz, julio diaz, david diaz, katsidis, guzman, campbell, yuri romanov and ali funeka

hell he still has to clear up the british scene thaxton and murray

He was never good enough to win a belt in the first place

    I don't think so.

He doesn't have the power to get the respect of top level fighters - shot superfeathers, Eurobums and chinny fighters may find him problematic, but the likes of Campbell, JMM et al are unlikely to be fazed.

Throw in the fact that he has a Hatton-esque defence and a Crumble-esque chin, and you have the nightmare combination.

Unless he is ridiculously carefully matched, as soon as he fights someone with an equaliser it will be all over.

i consider him as nothing until he beats atleast 1 out of murray and thaxton

i mean its common sense, clear up your own country before you start callign out the big boys, thats what used to get all the british boxers pissed off

+1 on that one. I do think in a year or 2 with careful work on his defense he can do it....he's got fast hands and good skills...just that shaky chin.

    Yeah.

If he can develop the rest of his skills to compensate, he can win a world title for sure. It's just a big 'if' of course.
