Peterson hung in there for the full 12 rounds against a red hot Bradley and never looked in any real danger but if he starts the way he did vs. Ortiz I don't see him finishing the fight. Ortiz made him look like a novice for the first couple of rounds and it's a testament to his character (as well as Ortiz's apparent lack of character) that he managed to turn things around, because he was simply overwhelmed for a few mins. Then consider the fact that he'll be on foreign soil, with a pro-Khan crowd and a British ref, who have a tendency to stop fights as soon as someone starts taking a little bit of punishment, then yeah it's conceivable that Khan wins by KO. All speculation tho, I've only ever seen Peterson twice so it's not like I know a lot about the guy. Will probably go and watch it live now I think about it, it's pretty much on my doorstep and I'm a bit of a Khan fan so I might as well.
Laz you seem like a Khan expert - do you think the men will be sold out for this one I mean how many times has he sold it out?
. Just a Fan, Brother. Nah, I doubt he'll sell it out. The only time he sold it out was when he fought against Barrera, but a lot of the support was there for Barrera. His World Title fight did about 10,000, but we should take into account that the fight got moved from the O2 to the MEN since Kotelnik had an injury and the time limit between the two dates was 3 weeks. So selling 10,000 in 3 weeks for a fight against Kotelnik is pretty damn good. Khan's stock has risen vastly since then, so I'm pretty sure it'll be near full. I anticipate it'll be a near to sell-out, but not a full sell-out :good
Dunno if it'll be sold out... not sure about the Barrera fight but there were quite a few empty seats when he beat Kotelnik. Edit: beaten to it.
Depends on what time, if it is UK Primetime it might do 15,000, if it is 4 AM then I would expect 10,000 unless John Murray is on the undercard. Seriously how can you be interested in this fight, is it really that compelling to you?
How did a Khan-Kotelnik fight do 10,000 (figure that was told was 15,000, but I think it was 10) It did that in the space of 3 weeks.
I think if they do it in the UK, they maximise the gate money so it'll be a 10pm start and they'll show the fight on Saturday afternoon or delayed in the USA
Can he stop him? Yes. Will he stop him? I don't think he will. Peterson's a smart fighter, and he has enough in him to survive if he's ever in trouble. It'll be interesting to see how Khan can deal with him.
I think Peterson will be more competitive then people think. He doesn't capitulate in his losses and his fundamentals are solid. The only thing he's lacking really is physicality and he has very little speed and athleticism. I think Lamont will take a few rounds off Khan, it'll be similar to Khan/Malignaggi but Peterson will be more competitive and i don't think he'll be stopped. Khan is not as big a puncher as Ortiz. I can see Amir getting countered with a few overhands in this fight, Khan will be more settled and establish the jab though. Peterson is really plodding when he goes forward and i think he'll play the waiting game much more then he did with Bradley. He'll fight the way he did against Ortiz in the second half of that fight.
I absolutely think Khan can stop him but his fear of taking another punch like the one that Maidana rocked him with in the 10th will mean Khan boxes rings round Peterson instead and takes a very wide UD 8)
I see Khan winning a very wide decision in this one. Peterson isn't very good but he seems like a survivor. If Amir knocks him out I'd be very impressed.
Yeah but that was primetime for Khan's first world title shot. Nobody wants to stay up till four in the ****ing morning for Lamont I am good but not that good Peterson. Like I said if it is Primetime which you seem to think it is then it will do good numbers but not sell out.
The fight will be primetime in the UK IMHO. Khan isn't really THAT in demand in the USA yet that his fights are going to get messed about at the expense of the live gate and the UK PPV sales (the 2 big money revenues for this fight).
If Peterson starts like he did against Ortiz then early stoppage by Khan If it gets past the early rounds then either a late tko like the one against malignaggi OR Khan decides to just box and runs rings round him all night wide UD Not that i think Peterson is a pushover he just doesnt have the physical attributes that khan has its that simple
