I disagree with this...he faught with a ****ed up eye, after already being down, and made a semi comeback and made the fight interesting. I respect him more after that fight because it would have been easy for him to quit.
Hate to say, but I think he's peaked. When you're hand fed stiff after stiff, that will slow your progress down a lot. That doesn't mean he can't win a belt at 147 again, simply due to the number of belts and the ways fighters are stripped. But in terms of him being seen as an elite fighter, I think we've already seen the best Berto. Would be glad to be provenm wrong by Berto BTW.
He just always seemed like a natural, blown up 140 to me. He really is a small dude with big muscles.
Back when Berto had a functional defense, set up his shots with upper body movement and a jab, and stepped into his combinations [yt]jcgQUh49TWI[/yt]
Hed beat Malignaggi for his belt....he'd stand a very good chance vs Alexander....a good chance in a rematch with Guerrerro or Ortiz.....he's a still a very good top WW just not elite or as good as someone thought he would be. He can still grab another belt.
