Thanks my friend that is some interesting information. Here are my thoughts... IF there was no effect on ability from increased size, I would say that since you would lose around 2 pull ups per stone, your declining ability actually reflected you getting just a bit stronger as you got heavier. BUT if your actual strength in lifting weights-same exercises, same form-went up dramatically... Then there likely is another explanation for why you did not do more than marginally better was you gained weight. But you did not say what kind of weigh you were moving *before* you gained weight. Anyway, twice your body weight or more in bent over rows & seated machine rows? Assuming you were doing near full sets, & mainly having good form... That is a *great* amount of weight. More than I ever could do. Machines often flatter us & are not the real free weight we would move.... But really, with bent over rows (free weights), you were doing sets of MID 400 pounds?! Moving that kind of weight, ~450 or more lbs. for reps with good form, would be highly unlikely (especially when big but not SHW size) unless you had superb genetics, or good genetics & you used PEDs. Are you sure about the weight, or do one of these two conditions apply? Next, you mention being wider. Why would that be an actual detriment? If it is not a detriment to other pulling motions, rows, & especially pull downs-the same motion as a pull up, except you move your weight not your body...If those get much stronger, what about lifting your body would cause the lats to impede you? And insertion point of the muscles: that is unrelated to gaining weight or muscle. So i suppose that you mean only that what you are born with makes them easier or harder. If so, what is better, higher or lower lats? IF it is the latter, might that merely be that one has more room for accommodating muscle? What if anything would these factors have to do with the body interfering with itself when moving? But when I think about what you say, getting bulky might account for my chin up numbers... In college I could do up to 14 chin ups. After I graduated & was a little heavier, I got up to 18 at up to 180 lbs. However, I did less as I got bigger-more fat & muscle. Up to 15 at ~ 210 dressed, up to 11 at maybe 242... IF there was no handicap from getting larger, that would reflect, like you, that I only got slightly stronger-in absolute terms. But in real life lifting, I gained a lot more than...Just a bit. Maybe this is why for years now I could do like exactly twice as many deep dips as chin ups. More compared to pull ups. And before the pandemic closed the gym, I got up to 29 at @ 215 lbs... If I have gotten relatively better at the pressing motion of dips, maybe it is because getting bigger is not a disadvantage, or much less, when one gets bigger?
Ruiz looks like a chick with a goatee sometimes, but unlike my OP post this isn't a joke. You dress him up in drag and I'm convinced he could fool people. That's how fat this man is.
Only time Andy's feet have ever left the ground was then he was in the film UP and they needed about 2,000 balloons to lift his fat ass of the ground.
Interesting question. Studying the capacities of the human liposuction vat is always intriguing in light of the fact he became HW champ of the world! Let's be generous and say he's 6ft/183cm (instead of around 5'11/180cm which seems more likely). And let's say he's 'in shape' as his fans would say, a solid 268lbs/121.5kg for the first AJ fight. You know, looking good and solid. Solid and fit. Not body beautiful but solid at the weight. A good weight for him. Solid and strong. 121.5kg of solidness. In sports where you can't be a hideously obese fat fck or take bulking PEDs, you'll find 183cm athletes around 80-85kg. So that would be Ruiz's natural weight roughly. Now doing a pull-up with that frame would be like doing a pull up with a 35-40 kg weight pack on, up to 88lbs. I'll say no, he can't do a full extension pull up. And he definitely can't do more than one even if he managed it.
I wonder which poster that is? He's still doesn't hold a candle to Andy's enormous waist line. The blob would have gobbled up that skipping rope like spaghetti!
I think it would be classed as self decapitation, the minute he attempts to pull up, his body would part company with his arms!!
Don't know the answer to this but how great would it be watching a clip of him having a go, that's entertainment right there watching him trying to get to five would make PFV.
