Can any heavyweight from history realistically beat Tyson Fury?

Against Louis, Fury would look a hell of a lot better than Carnera overall (insanely better, of course). However, it would end similarly, Fury looking like a goofy, Jethro-Bodean mother****er and doing a yo yo off the canvas.

It might last until the 12th.

Not many people notice that Fury often has a slower pace and low punch output. He gets away with it with his enormous size, grab+leaving tactics and having a ref that doesn't permit much inside work. He's a product of the modern era. If he was ready to gas out with a sloppy guy like Wilder, I can't imagine him keeping up with the high pace of guys like Mercer, Tua, Frazier, etc who throw non stop and don't back off. But again, it depends on the ref.

Vitali and Fury are like night and day. The only things they have in common are that they were tall heavyweights.

I certainly wouldn't look at a flabby old Lewis vs Vitali to envision a prime Lewis vs Fury.

Lewis has never been flabby in his entire career. Sure he put on weight gradually as he got older but he was still big solid looking unit

Lewis was not a "unit" in the Vitali fight. Puffy cheeks, soft belly, some flab on the sides. That was the worst he had ever looked and he still beat Vitali. It was a compliment if anything. We can argue about aesthetics all day, but the fact Lewis wasn't at his best isn't up for debate, and neither is the fact Vitali doesn't fight anything like Fury.

Skipped my mind. Definitely a candidate to beat Fury.

Honestly with a ref who doesn’t allow his absurd holding, I think Wilder wins more often than not.

That they are, Fury has better movement so would be even harder to pin down than Vitali

Joe Louis got dropped by Galento and KTFO by Schmeling. Can't imagine what Tyson Fury would do to him.

And Fury was knocked down and wobbled by the mighty Neven Pajkic who had a grand total of 5 stoppages in 18 fights.

Tyson Fury would not be able to wade through all of the great heavyweights in history. He'd win some and he'd lose some. And there'd be some surprises along the way.

Which of the three fights that he failed to win against Fury, do you think Wilder could have turned around in his favor, had it not been for Fury's holding?

Also which US referee on US soil would it have required to be in place, for Wilder to get a fair shake against Fury?

Fury doesn't and will probably never hit as hard as any of those guys.

The power counts more when it involves a 270 pound man grappling with you and leaning on you for 10 rounds. There’s a reason why Wilder has only had stamina issues against Fury.

That's my point. You can do this with pretty much every fighter.

People always go: ''Oh this guy almost lost to X, imagine what Y would do to him.'' but then ignore the times Y has been dropped/stopped/beaten.
