Well most people dont count "regular titles" when its not the real championship. Ridiculous we have to even have this conversation...how the F.UCK are there so many champions????? ONE WEIGHT ONE CHAMP FFS...greedy boxing f.ucks
Why is Tank v RyGa a big fight? Neither are champ and KingRy last 3 fights at 140...so what makes this a big fight? I mean I know its being marketed and promoted like its a big fight but what is the significance? Neither guy are Top 3 at 135 or 140... It's really only big if you buy into Floyd/DLH hype...
@IntentionalButt Do you want to give this fella a lecture on how there never has been "one weight, one champion"?
Have neither time nor inclination to put in that kinda labor right now, but... "Work smarter not harder" "Stay ready so you don't have to get ready" Cliché double-dip! https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...era-boxings-sanctioning-organizations.602611/ A single recognized world champion in any given division has been an exception rather than a norm for pretty much the whole of the sport's (in present form) ~150 year history
You guys are making me feel like I am taking crazy pills. Where did I say this wasn't a big fight in 2023? I am saying this caliber of fight would be relegated to chief support on an HBO card, or FNF in other eras. Perhaps I wasn't as clear as I could have been. My statement is meant to highlight the current state of boxing if this is the type of "megafight" we get. My original post is below.
You lost me at major talents of their generation. I think Broner and Rafael Ruelas achieved more before their wheels came off. And nobody remembers them as generational talents. The bulk of the Davis and Garcia online fanbase thought Jake Paul was the best fighter in the world. To me, it's a fight between "maybe" the fourth best lightweight (Davis) - although Frank Martin probably beats him - and some untested contender from the lower half of the top 10. If that gets your juices flowing, more power to you. But I don't get why we're all supposed to be getting wound up about this. I love boxing. Loved it before either of them were born. And I don't think I'm in either fighter's "target market." And I probably should be. I don't quite know who they are targeting with this fight. Mexican girls? Fans of YouTube celebs? Fans of WBA 'Regular" belts? (Weren't they supposed to be getting rid of those?) It's sort of like trying to market Bud Light with a tranny spokesperson, in a way. It just seems like they've tried to go as niche as possible and if you don't get it ... whether you're a longtime fan or not ... something must be wrong with "you." It wouldn't surprise me if the fellow bankrolling the whole thing was the guy who created the Fyre Festival. It's seems about as legit a "big deal" as that. Haney, Stevenson, Loma, those are the top fighters at lightweight. Does anyone take Ryan "Look How Fast I Can Throw Punches at the Air" Garcia over any of those three? Hell, no. I wouldn't pick Garcia over Frank Martin. I don't know if I'd take Davis over Martin either.
Social media. You've got a kid who's basically done NOTHING in professional boxing yet. But he's one of the most popular professional boxers of this era. He hasn't beaten any elite fighters. He doesn't have a resume. But he's got four hundred and fifty million follower on Instragram.
All real boxing fans know that no fights should ever happen unless both fighters have flawless resumes. How could someone possibly be a good fighter if they haven't already proven it beyond a shadow of a doubt
How would you rate them? Below average, average, good, really good. I think Garcias win versus Campbell in England was a really good win.
Tank - average to Ryan - below average, we seriously gonna act like Ryan hasn’t pulled out of every half way decent fight who is Luke Campbell bro? A nobody…. Tank got 2 wins in total worth something and one of those was vs a guy 2 divisions smaller.. idk I’m from a era where you gotta fight somebody to get this type of credit.. it’s like new fans more worried about who got the most IG followers over whose fighting the best
